Is Rampage really at a point in his career that he is going to fight Mitrione? Not trying to put him down but he couldn't beat Cheick Kongo.

Why waste Rampage's name on a mid level heavyweight? Either get him a fun fight with another legend (like Shogun) or see if one of the up and comers at 205 can get that big name win and become a more well-known contender.

Never understood Shogun vs Rampage 2.
I mean I always understood why some wanted Rampage vs Wanderlie 3
They had two geat fights, and although Wanderlie ultimately overhelmed Page, and brutally beat him up, Rampage would have his moments etc
But Shogun ran through a PRIME Rampage effotlessly. Rampage was at his best and Shogun had his way with him. Shogun beat Rampage senseless up and down the ring, then finished him in the first round
No questions, no controversy, Rampage wasnt coming off surgery etc
Shogun crushed a PRIME Rampage. It was one of the most lopsided beatings I have ever seen in combat sports period. Now Rampage is over the hill etc.
Shogun is not, and is still hungry. Shogun is going for another legit title run.
And even if Gustafsson destroys Shogun, while Rampage wins, Shogun is still much higher up, and has already CRUSHED a PRIME Rampage
Rampage gave up (believed he had broken rib) although he lost I would say he gave up more
^ Agreed.
Back when this fight(Shogun vs Rampage 2) was announced back in March or so I was actually pretty excited for it. But now I think it's just time to move on. The fight was scheduled, so it was going to happen, but I really don't see a point in re-scheduling it. Like you said, there was nothing controversial about it, just a lopsided beating, and Rampage is over the hill and coming off two losses.
Shogun isn't fighting until December, and if he wins he most likely gets another crack at Jones. I just don't see where Rampage falls into any of this? It made more since before, but it seems Shogun is on to greater and bigger things and could be looking at another title shot.
I think Lil Nog vs Rampage is a sick fight, I recommended it on the first page. None of them have anything scheduled right now and it makes a lot of sense.
Lol thanks man much appreciated.
Thai guy, I know you find it difficult to contain your love for Shogun, but in no way is the man in his prime. Put it down to injuries, training, diet, whatever you want. And your logic that they fought a long time ago and it was decisive means they should never fight again... I'm guessing you think Shogun should never face Jones again after the mauling he took last time?
I think Rampage would win if he comes in well prepared. We've seen Nog struggle in his last several fights against wrestlers(kinda thought he won the Bader fight), the threat of the takedown really hurts his striking game because he prefers to strike in the inside, he is primarily a boxer(has an amazing step-in knee) so he prefers to fight in close quarters, thus making it easier for wrestlers to get a hold of him and tie up. He is a great counter striker though.
Rampage thrives when fighting on the inside, and is a great counter striker. And defensively he is better than Nog. It's a very interesting matchup IMO. I think if Rampage utilizes his wrestling he would win a decision. I think it would be pretty even on the feet, and the takedowns are what would give Rampage a definitive edge.

If Jones wasn't champ...not many people would be calling for that fight either. But Jones has the belt so Shogun would have no choice but to fight him.
It has to be someone that Rampage will get motivated for. If it is indeed his last fight, he needs to go out with a bang. I say Griffin or Shogun.
Would love to see a Shogun vs Rampage rematch.
Seriously, are you 12? Im guessing your room at your parents is wall to wall posters of Shogun?
Thiaguy - I have been hearing a lot about Manuwa lately. Who is he lol?
A BEAST from the UK. He broke Kingsburys face over the weekend and looked amazing doing so.
Vicious striker, built like a brick shithouse, exciting addition to LHW.

Shogun going for the title?
Legit run?
The guy who let Brandon Vera look like an ass kicker is gonna have a chance versus Jones a second time?
Forget MMAth.
You can't look like that versus Vera and be on the title hunt unless it's because fans can't let go of the fact you once were elite.
Fans accept Rampage isn't elite any longer.
It's time the same fans accept Shogun isn't this feared world beater as well.
Shogun has more juice than Rampage but not much.
I say let them square off and eliminate one or the other.
Chael if he makes it past Xanax Griffin

If Shogun beats Gus he is the #1 contender and will most likely get the next shot at Jones. He is in the title hunt. It wasn't his best performance but he's bounced back from poor performances in the past. He's still elite.
