They're going for market value and SPONSPORSHIPS to supplement their income. It's not just one or the other, but someone people in positions of power want to make it so.

If they sign for said amount with the knowledge that they will be getting sponsorships as well, to force their sponsors out later on is garbage.

Zuffa pays their fighters exactly what they agree to.

By signing a contract a contracted employee places a value on their services by accepting X compensation for X service.
