As far as I'm concerned.... I have a hard time believing a rope can do that, but it genuinely looks like the knee lands much more in the area of the cheekbone and not the forehead so I'm pretty torn.

I didn't see the card live, but someone on another site said the "ropes' get internally lit up between fights when the ring is dark. Ian referred to them on Twitter as "super hard LED piping." I'm inclined to think he knows when he got cut and how it happened, no matter how unusual it is.
So fight was stopped because of a cut?
