When UFC women's bantaweight champion Ronda Rousey announced Friday morning that he next fight would be not with Miesha Tate as expected, but rather with Holly Holm, there was a remarkable degree of surprise.

Holm herself told ESPN's Brett Okamoto that she had already accepted a fight against Sarah Kaufman, so Rousey fight was very unexpected. Tate too found the announcement wholly unexpected.
mieshatate I am extremely disappointed how all the events unfolded this morning regarding news that I will not be fighting Ronda Rousey. I was told after my last win that I had earned the title shot. I've already begun training for Rousey and I was shocked to hear the announcement this morning. I regret this for not only myself, but my team, sponsors and the fans who like me believed my next fight was for the title.
I think this is good for Tate. Now she can possibly fight Cyborg at catch weight. If Tate wins that fight. All of the sudden a fight with Rousey becomes interesting again. So she will have two money fights.
2x losing contender who is basically treated like a champion in her own right by the UFC is thoroughly disappointed in them for not putting together another beatdown after amassing an average winning streak
Disappointed for what, has anyone else had 2 chances at a title fight and lost to the same person get a 3rd shot? I understand that she was told she would get a title shot but let's step back at it..
She lost 2 times to her, granted the first time she had the belt but the previous fights weren't even even. Ronda pretty much whopped her for all the rounds even though she is the only fighter to take Ronda to kinda deep waters.
Personally I think Dana fucked up by even saying winner of Tate eye gets the shot.
What meisha should do instead of crying is say, give me cyborg and let me take that away from Ronda. That would be a huge slap to Ronda, probably even more so than winning the belt. She would take Rondas biggest pay day and derail the hype train.
I myself am not counting Miesha out if she does get RR again. When they last met, she was much better prepared than the Strikeforce fight. At this point there is nobody in the world with more insight on what it will take to beat Ronda. Last year she was asked about a rematch and she said she knew she wasn't ready. Now she says she is, and she says she has a plan to beat her. I look forward to seeing it if/when it happens. I believe RR probably wins, but it would be hard to pass on the betting lines they were posting for Miesha.
I wasn't really interested in that fight. But it's still kinda fucked up that they would openly tell her and everybody else, that she was fighting Rousey next. They even billed her last fight as a #1 contender bout. I'm not disappointed with the change, but I am empathetic towards Meisha.

Yes in the past when posed those questions Dana would answer properly with "I don't know, ask Joe" -- now he speaks his opinion. And so far his hit/miss is pretty bad lol :)
meh, Meisha isn't ready anyways. If you lose twice to someone in the recent past you can't complain too much over getting passed over. She should use this time to improve as a martial artist especially her ground bottom game since that's likely where she'll end up versus Ronda.

Re watching both fights Miesha was more competitive in the first fight.
