The Featherweight Muay Thai title bout will be re-scheduled for the second time.
It looks like the third time might be the charm. The ONE Championship Featherweight Muay Thai title bout between Superbon Singha Mawynn and Tawanchai P.K. Saenchai, which was expected to headline ONE Fight Night 17 on December 9, has been canceled – according to an anonymous source that reached out to The South China Morning Post.
This marks the second time that the clash between the two pound-for-pound talents has been called off. The pair was initially supposed to face each other at ONE Fight Night 15 on October 7, before Superbon withdrew with a calf injury sustained in training. This time around, it was Tawanchai who’s been forced out of the contest, as the reigning Featherweight Muay Thai champion has been admitted to a Bangkok hospital with a serious viral infection.
The promotion will postpone the fight for a later date, likely in early 2024, instead of booking Superbon against a short-notice replacement. The four other fights currently announced for the event are all likewise Muay Thai bouts, although ONE Championship hasn’t yet stated whether any of them will be promoted to main event status, or if a different fight will instead be scheduled as such.
