hah, i watched the tanner fight on spike again last night (1st time since it was aired live) and was impressed at how well dave was "bringing it" to tanner.
The wrong dave showed up to that fight but the wrong dave came damn close to taking the belt that night.
I don't understand. Terrell's striking looked so crisp and precise in his Pancrase fights, but ever since he got into the UFC its been these big lunging SUperman punches and wild brawling.
Is the pressure to look good and exciting for the fans in the UFC making him fight so out of character aggressively?
It's the pressure of being stood up and wanting to make as much money as possible so he's going for the homerun.
I did notice that in the Tanner fight Dave was the first one to really engage and that was when the crowd started booing the fighters for the length of the feeling out period.
Dave wants to seen as an exciting fighter.
In that picture Dave threw the punch and was going right in for the takedown..hence the reason his ands are were they are and why there was not a KO at the end of that punch..And so far that lunging punch has worked well,Ask Lindland how it feels
Great fight from Smith..Dave gives him all the credit in the world and said he is all class
Still he got a fishy win. If Smith is right, the ref had as much to do with the win as Terrell.
I'm sorry - no disrespect, but Terrel Ko'ing Lindland was a fluke. NO WAY Lindland loses to Terrel in a rematch. I'd be willing to bet thousands (literally, if anyone's interested).
kostakio,No disrespect taken.What you have to remember in that fight is this..The punch on there feet did not ko Matt..it knocked him down.The 7 un amswered to the chin on the ground knocked him out..Dave finished him as he does in all his fights,I am pretty sure that only 1 of dave 10 or so fights have gone the distance
Wait, I agree that Terrel's punch knocked Lindland down, BUT Lindland was disoriented, dude. That's the only reason he ate the rest of the punches that resulted in the stoppage. Just to make sure, are you suggesting that Terrel's fighting ability is superior to Lindland's? Granted, Lindland's performance in that fight was horrible ('cause he inadvertently got caught), but by no means should it reflect his ability. Boring fighter or not, Lindland is a strategic and relentless dude that does what it takes to win - love him or hate him. I'd love to see a rematch one day.

weight..on that night Terrell was better..Thats the best part about our
sport..I think AA is 10 times better then Sylvia but a couple days ago Tim
was better..Thats the nature of the beast
terrells fight was pretty good. he will keep moving up
dave is a better fighter than smith. more explosive, better boxing (smith has a great overhand right), 100x better grappling, better wrestler.

I can't say I agree, it's too bad this fight was tainted with some very piss poor reffing. I really hope it get's ruled a NC, and we get the rematch that we (the fans and the 2 fighters) deserve.

I'm wondering why Terrell immediately went back to fighting and Smith didn't when the ref said resume action. When the ref says before the fight to obey his commands that's what he means. Terrell did exactly what the ref said to do and Smith didn't so that's the way it goes. Terrell now moves up the ranks and will get a more high profile opponent for his next fight. Good luck to Smith though, because he seems like a nice guy and a helluva fighter from all that I've heard about him.
It's not like Smith was handing Terrel his ass before the Ref crap. The Ref kind of screwed Terel too as by all the accounts I've read Terrel was doing better in the fight... not dominating either tho.
The ref OBVIOUSLY screwed Smith much more.. but really you can't hold that againt Terell.. it MAY have cost Terrel a stronger-looking win tho, which sucks for all involved.
Terrel did his job cleanly tho and got the W. Hate the Ref but that's not Dave's fault.
