THE AWAKENING OCT 11th, 2008

Plymouth, Mass. September 22, 2008. - Fred Belleton's No Boundary Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion today announced the full fight card for its first show, "The Awakening", scheduled for Saturday, October 11th at the Jungleplex in Plymouth, Mass.

Headlining the card is undefeated Team Link fighter Karn Gregorian (5-0), fresh off of his preliminary bout win on Season Eight of The Ultimate Fighter "Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir". Gregorian will be returning to action locally for the first time in almost a year since October 2007 when he dominated veteran Jerry Spiegel en route to winning a Unanimous Decision victory for the Extreme Fighting International Light-Heavyweight Championship. Gregorian is set to face his toughest challenger yet in 205-pound fighter Brett "Bedtime" Chism (8-2) from the Valdosta Martial Arts Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Chism has been on a tear in 2008 by winning his last four fights in a row and winning three of those four victories by submission or ref stoppage-all in the first round. Gregorian intends to send a message in this fight that he is one of the top light heavyweight fighters not only New England, but also in the whole country. For Chism this fight is an opportunity to introduce himself to the New England scene and send a message to UFC brass that he was overlooked for The Ultimate Fighter tryouts.

In one of the card's featured bouts local featherweight staple Aguilano Brandao (7-3) from Brazilian Martial Arts Center (BMAC) will take on former Plymouth State College wrestling standout Justin Homsey (2-1) from Team Renzo Gracie NH. Brandao, a massmma.net Top-Ten Ranked fighter, will also be making his return to action for the first time in a year since a tough decision loss in September 2007 to fellow Top-Ten competitor Team Aggression's Joe Cushman. For the wrestling and jiu-jitsu specialist Homsey, whose coming off his sole loss to the undefeated John Franchi, this fight serves as an opportunity to break into the Top Ten rankings and prove that his back-to-back submission victories in his first two fights were no fluke.

In another featured fight Top-Ten Ranked 185-pound fighter Eddie "The Sultan" Saldana (4-1) is set to face South Shore Sport Fighting's (SSSF) Jesse Peterson (3-2). Saldana, who works out at Mark Dellagrote's world famous Sityodtong Muay-Thai Academy, has been training with recently signed World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) fighter Mike Campbell, the UFC's Patrick "The Predator" Cote, and longtime Sityodtong member Kenny "KenFlo" Florian for this bout. Saldana's lone loss was a referee stoppage due to a cut in a bout that he was otherwise dominating at the time. Saldana later avenged the loss with a convincing first-round submission victory. Peterson is no stranger to facing stiff competition, having fought the current Reality Fighting and Untamed Middleweight Champion Nate "The Animal" Kittredge. "I want to face tough competition and Eddie is certainly a game guy," Peterson said. "We'll both be looking for the finish."

Also on the card undefeated heavyweight fighter Eric Foley (3-0) from SSSF takes on Team Bombsquad's Randy "The Wolf" Smith (4-4). For Foley, who holds the Reality Fighting Heavyweight title, this is a chance to challenge himself against a fighter with experience competing throughout the Northeast.

Academies from up and down the East Coast will be represented at No Boundary's "The Awakening" including: CCFA, Bice MMA, Chase MMA, Generations, and Team Morelli.

(Malden, MA) – There is no doubting that mixed martial arts (MMA) is growing at break-neck speed here in New England, and with any booming industry speculators and opportunists are attracted to the thought of making a quick buck. Look no further than the failed "Tsunami" fight card last August from IE Fights as evidence. As MMA continues to prove its detractors wrong and increasingly becomes part of the New England sporting fabric more and more promoters are going to throw their proverbial hats in the cage; good news for fight fans comes in the form of current EliteXC fighter Frederic Belleton joining forces with New England Fights Podcast Owner Matt Peterson to bring fans a new MMA promotion called "No Boundary" which offers its first show this Saturday, October 11th, at the Jungleplex in Plymouth, Massachusetts (www.noboundary.tv).

"Fred and I both agree that anytime and all-the-time is a good time for MMA. We're in agreement that MMA is the greatest sport in the world--nothing compares to it," Matchmaker Matt Peterson explained, "We've been discussing putting a show together for a long time. We share a love for the sport and an admiration for the fighters that compete in it. We've been in the planning stages for years and finally got all the pieces in place to allow us to move forward with it."

Moving forward is exactly what No Boundary plans to do with MMA in New England. As the sport continues to grow and garner mainstream attention and support fighters are enjoying opportunities to compete like never before; fighter compensation, however, has not always enjoyed the same growth spurt.

"Fred is focusing everything on promoting the fighters and their camps. Fred has set the contracts to put more money into the fighter's pockets to allow them a better opportunity to train full-time," Peterson continued, "As a fighter himself, Fred understands the necessity of a decent paycheck and has done everything to try to give the fighters a better wage for their work in the ring."

And in the ring, or cage in the case of No Boundary, is where any promotion truly lives or dies. The New England market is chalk full of stacked cards and packed houses; World Championship Fighting routinely delivers top-notch talent, as does Full Force Productions, CageFightMMA, the United States Fight League, and Combat Zone just to name a few. So how will No Boundary compare to these well established entities, especially in a stalled economy?

"Financially times are tight for everyone right now, but a good product sells itself no matter what the economic climate looks like. People need entertainment and there's nothing in the world more gripping than a good fight," Peterson explained, "We've got a few surprises up our sleeve, but every show is unique in its own way and we hope to make our mark as well. At the end of the day it's the quality of the fighters that really make any show special and we've worked hard to bring in guys that we think have that X Factor to make for fantastic fights."

One of those surprises is the appearance of Ultimate Fighting Championship Middleweight contender Patrick "The Predator" Cote! Cote will be making a special appearance to sign autographs for fans right before he battles UFC Middleweight Champion, and possibly the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world Anderson "Spider" Silva!

New England fighters competing on October 11th's "The Awakening" event include Eddie "The Sultan" Saldana (4-1), Aguilano Brandao (6-3), Justin Homsey (2-1), Chris Cape (3-1), and Rigo Dominicci (2-5); but No Boundary will also be importing top-notch talent from all over the country like current Division I 197lb. Wrestling National Champion Phil Davis making his professional MMA debut against Valdosta, Georgia Light Heavyweight Brett Chism (7-2) and Athens, Pennsylvania Super Heavyweight Hercules Benjamin (2-1) fighting fellow Pennsylvanian Braden Bice (6-6).

"We're not New England-centric necessarily. For this first show we've brought in guys from up and down the East Coast to compete. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Georgia will all be represented in addition to the core New England states. I've always proudly stated that New England has the strongest MMA scene in the country, so we want No Boundary shows to be an opportunity for local guys to test themselves against what other states in the country have to offer," Peterson noted.

So this Saturday at Plymouth's JunglePlex be sure to support New England's latest entry onto the MMA scene, No Boundary: "The Awakening".

"It is our hope that each fan will come away feeling like they saw an exceptional night of fights within a quality production that took the extra step to make the show a special experience. This is a show built by fighters for the fighters," Peterson concluded.

Tickets for No Boundary: "The Awakening" can be purchased by calling (508) 830-1411, Visa and Mastercard accepted. Also, expect to see most of the local Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting celebrities at this event!
