Some of us have had the privelege to watch this man compete with honor for the past 9 years or so. Tonight he once again forged through aversity, through pain and through blood to get the job done and break the mythical 30 win mark that so few ever attain.
30+ wins. Never submitted. Never knocked out. Never dominated to a decision.
Thats hard to imagine.
Brett Rogers threw everything he had at Fedor. Cut him standing. Pounded him with power shots on the ground. Escaped his limit break special belly-down armbar.
And yet mighty Fedor still prevailed. He endured.
Because that is what he does.
We have gotten to see a humble man rise from obscurity in a Russian village to conquer the most brutal, most difficult of all the combat sports and to become the only man that is bigger than the sport itself.
For those who can appreciate and grasp these things, I am thrilled and overjoyed to share it with you.
It would be foolish and ignorant of history to pretend there wont be fair-weather ignorant "casual fans" who will think that they have something to say about this. Some way to diminish Fedor's performance or some other crap to add.
As far as you can describe an 08-09 Kimo death hoax noob as a "person", they are entitled to their opinion.
But those who actually understand what they are watching know that we are seeing a figure who may not come along again in our lifetimes.
The best there is and has ever been.
