The Varner "Time Out"

Orion says it best on the first page. Well done.

"Watch your mouth there, no talking!!" -Steve M.

Gotta love that Punk/Yves ending as well.

TTT. thanks for the support guy's Varner is for Real. and will only get
Better.

I'll LOL if every time Jamie gets rocked he spit out his mouth piece and then asks for a time out.

I guess its smart but if you get a ref who isnt gonna give you a break you better be careful.

fo sho

all jamie needs is a better mouth piece.

But that isn't even close to what happened

I agree GSP4Prez. Excellent post.

I forgot what I was going to write in this post.

Time Out!

BS. Varner was hurt and went for a couple of takedowns to avoid trading punches. As soon as Varner had to give up the takedown and go back to striking range he was already motioning for the time out before he had even finished standing up. Only a dick would have hit Varner as he was doing that, and McCollough was still moving backward from having pulled out of the singel. It was a bullshit move by Varner, imo, and obviously intended to get him a bit of rest before he had to engage on the feet again. There was no chance for McColough to reengage before Varner was calling the timeout. If the ref was going to "stop it anyway", Varner should have let the ref stop it. Fighters shouldn't be able to call a time out.

Varner fans are going pretty far on this one.

Robin.

Earlier I had asked if Jamie Varner was related to Iowa State wrestler and NCAA Finalist Jake Varner. Someone told me that they were cousins, but hey on this site who knows wtf is really true.

This recent issue makes me want to see "The Worm" get his ass soundly kicked=

sends UFC 62 to the top of my Netflix queue

Guys, if you have the fight Tivo'd or recorded or whatever... watch it again. He didn't call the TO when he got rocked. He fought through being rocked, recovered, then waited for a halt in the action.

I agree he should not have signalled a TO, because it taints the whole thing, but it wasn't like he took the shot and then immediately called a TO to recover.

Let's keep it real.

.... up in the field, ayight?!

Arguing about this is played out. But I will agree with you that actually calling a time out in an MMA fight does indeed taint the match.

What's done is done. It certainly isn't the worst injustice I've seen in MMA since I got hooked in '93. Only Jamie knows the real truth. Everything else is nothing more than opinions.
