Tinnitus

Anyone here suffer from Tinnitus, I have had it for a year drives me mad somedays, how is your experience of it, (for those who dont know what it is, it is continuous ringing in the ears.)

try to block it out and listen to the little voices instead.

sorry, thought it was funny. I have heard of people having this their entire lives...don't know what to do about it. Sometimes it goes away naturally...did anything cause it that you know of?

Yes I think it was a virus I picked up when I was run in to the ground with work I am self-employed so I just kept going until I basically could not get up one day due to extreme exhaustion (I had to sit down for my morning piss I was that fecked), I have seen the ENT guys they basically say you could have it for life or it may go tomorrow. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr forever! Kind a sucks.
Still I live in hope.

As an audiologist I see patients every day with varying degrees of tinnitus. Currently there is no cure, although tinnitus maskers work for a small minority of patients. I am assuming your ENT has ruled out drugs (e.g. aspirin), noise exposure and other causes of tinnitus. The American Tinnitus Association has a good website and also has a listing of professionals self-reporting expertise in tinnitus.

I have it and it sucks. I used to love the quiet solitude of the mountains but now I hate it.

The sad fact is that there is no cure. There are however some treatments. I am going to see a specialist later this month to see if he can help me.

I have transient tinnitus in one ear, mostly likely due to a damaged or "unteathered" hair cell. On occasion is becomes so persistant that I want to stab my brain with a Q-tip to make it shut up.
