Tom Lawlor vs. CB Dollaway

Haha!

jjj2121 -
taylork3 - And why doesn't Tom have a shot at armbarring/submitting CB?

I don't think he's by any stretch a slouch when it comes to the ground

Also, if anyone would've suggested Amir doing the same before their match (especially twice), you'd've laughed at them. Amir was essentially a kickboxer a weight class below and he pulled off that upset, twice

Only going off of what I've seen, and I've never seen Tom hit, nor even attempt a sub from the bottom, I see his fightfinder record having his only subs coming via RNC...maybe his BJJ is better than I think, but to this point in the fights I've watched I haven't seen it.

And you are correct, Lawlor did knock out Diamond Dave (although Kaplan disputes this)...if Dolloway takes the middle of the Octagon, sticks his chin out and lets Lawlor hit him with all he's got while looking away...possibly Lawlor by KO.

My analysis on the fight:

CB is a better wrestler than me, that is true. However MMA wrestling is different than amateur wrestling. Certain styles of wrestling lend themselves better to mma than other do.

Based on what I've seen of CB, he pressures very hard going forward, and uses his kicks and strikes to get in range. I've prepared for this and have a good game plan.

My BJJ isn't world class, but it is competent. Better than I've shown in TUF or since. Going in to the Kingsbury fight, I had some issues with changing teams and injuries which didn't allow me to really train the way I have been able to recently.

I think CB will come out strong and try to stand up, and I will shoot a double leg that drives him through the cage and in to Reno, NV. This will earn me fight of the night, and I will buy everyone drinks.

Make sure you aim away from Buffer when you charge. If you injure him and prevent the 360 from occurring, the UG mob that forms will be relentless.

That's pretty good analysis, I agree, CB will come at you hard, he's pretty awkward standing so I've gotta believe he's going for the takedown fairly early, especially if your hands live up to the rave reviews they have been getting from Seth.

Either way, good luck and have a great fight...hope it makes it on TV. I'm in Orlando, you've got a lot of people pulling for you here.

You have people pulling for you down here also Tom!!!!

Have fun and remember that you are just getting started!!

LOL at your overview of the fight.

Good luck Tom

Tom Lawlor - Lawlor by headkick.

Please?

Being Matt Damon's stunt double would be an awesome job. Less dangerous than MMA, and possibly get you more chicks too.

I appreciate the support from everyone who gives it to me, and anyone who doesn't, I'll use it as fuel to the fire in an effort to prove you wrong=)

Also, just because my hands look better than they ever have doesn't mean they look good.....just better than before. it is pretty easy to improve on crappy standup.

What I do have going for me is I am pretty strong despite only being able to bench press around 300 lbs.

I also have a big head and a rattail hair do, which will serve to distract CB, and if he does sneak in some punches I have a lot of cranium to protect my brain.

CB can match you in cranial size...he's rocking a XXXL melon himself.

It's gonna be tough to do anything to the Doberman as he repeatedly punches your face from the turtle position. I've never seen a fighter with the style of CB Dollaway. It had to have been difficult to train for this fight.

buy the drinks in reno when your there i hear their cheaper.
best of luck Tom

I'm predicting Tom by sprawl & brawl, or kimura off his back, or KO by knee on a shot or in the clinch

S/n bet?

CRE - CB is going to pressure him and find an opening Tom is very cool peeps best of luck but CB by dominant performance

When did CB dominate anyone? Let alone a fellow wrestler with awesome cardio who's going down a weight class or two (and Jesse Taylor doesn't fit that description)

Either Tom stops him in the first or the tide turns on CB when he spends himself trying to get the takedown for 3 rounds unsuccessfully

So because Jesse Taylor wasn't dropping a weight class he doesn't fit your keyhole description? Jesse Taylor wasn't undersized at MW.

Tom because he has an awesome beard.

I'd like a Bombay and tonic, double tall, w/ 2 limes.

You're the man!

Jesse Taylor doesn't fit the mould because he doesn't have a rounded skill set, such as having stand up and submission defense/offense

Also he doesn't have Vinnie Magalhaes to train jiu jitsu with and ATT

None of that was in your original post...and I'm not sure Tom has a well rounded skill set. A couple months training with Vinnie Magalhaes doesn't make you a BJJ expert.

I like CB in this fight, you like Lawlor, we'll see who is right in a few days.
