HOWARD COMBAT KIMONOS
The original HCK was a piece of armor that struck fear into the hearts of every opponent. You were practically unchokeable when you wore it, it had a texture that was extremely hard for the opponent to grip, the quality was unsurpassed, and it was super durable.
Legendary gi.
I loved my HCKs. I still have a competition single that I wore for years, it shrunk (or maybe I grew...) gave to a friend and he had it for a few years, he gave it back like six years ago and I've used it for gi pull-ups. Still looks almost new!
My brother bought an HCK back in 2000. That unit felt like it weighed 20 lbs after a grueling work out. An unbelievably durable, heirloom-quality Gi that refused to show signs of wear. Many years later he handed the Gi down to me. Because it was an A-3, it was a bit large. The opportunity arose to donate the Gi to a social project in Rio de Janeiro. After some thought, I asked for my brothers permission to send it to the motherland of this art. He concurred that it was a symbolic way to pass a Gi on, so off it went two summers ago. Howard Liu, Thanks for such a quality product!
Agreed. My first gi was an HCK. My favorite gi I have ever owned is the new Rip Stop Lite. Love the fit.
I still have my Rickson Mizuno. That sucker is a tank as well. It's sleeves have shrunk to the point that it's comical for me to wear. I'm pretty sure my arms have stretched over the years from being so inhumanly strong. I have heard HCKs are comfy durable gis.
I have an HCK I purchased around 97-98 or so. I think it was one of the first batches. It has the super droopy crotch. Remember those. It's a single weave but is such a tank. I still have it for sentimental reasons. I break it out every once in a while.
My HCK used to stand up taller than I did after hard training sessions. On top of that it was like cheese graters to my training partners knuckles and had a collar that I think only Roger could break.

If I take my Howard, wash it, then hang it outside in Cali heat on a chair. I can take it off that chair when dry and it will literally stand on its own.
I was once so intimidated by my draw in a tournament that I let my washed and dried HCK enter without me!

My first gi was HCK. Such a powerful gi.
The number 1 and 2 listed gis were my first gis I owned. Atama classic (just the basic Atama with no flags) and an mkimonos gi. Both were my favourite gis ever. Lasted many years

Still have my comp single top. Use it occasionally but it feels like armor when I wear it. Does anyone know if they are tournament legal?
M Kimonos. Not only did I feel "special/elite" by wearing one, but their customer service was next to none!!! Lordes or something was her name?! Great company!
I have an HCK single I wore every week for over five years, I bet I could give it to my Nonna and she could have it looking brand new.
My crown jewel of a gi is a blue HCK double, fucker stands up on its own after training. Wearing it on the mats is like pulling up to Cars and Coffee in a 67 Fastback Mustang. Everybody looks, but those who know what it really is go crazy.
