Training far away and Gas prices

Cereal- Your right, the Civic will make a difference! lol. Although, now I have to get a Tahoe...Damn my life. lol

i bought a 95 ford escort a few months ago for this very reason. Not sure the miles per gallon but I can get around for about 20-25 bucks a week in it. i only paid $800 for the car.

good luck.

I'm feelin' this thread.  I drive an hour and a half one-way to train.  I'm thinking about starting something out my way though.  I have the civic hybrid.  however, with the gas prices on the rise.  it's not going to matter soon WHAT you drive.  It's going to suck to even have a hybrid if gas is $5 per gallon (which is not far off at the rate it's going).  Could you imagine?  My hybrid is a 13 gallon tank and would take $65 to fill if that happened.

If there is anyone on the forum with a "Chemical Engineering" or "Physics" background ... could you please figure out this whole coldfusion thing or an alternate source of fuel?  :-)

I drive a Mazda Protege and it does good on gas...but when you drive nearly 200 miles total to train....Tried to put my own thing together but can't really find a place to do that and the people that would be interested would be able to train different days than I could.

ethanol is a joke of an alternative.

fuel cells are the way we should be going, but that'll never happen.

By a hybrid

I drive 70 miles each way to train. I bought a Civic Hybrid last year; I consistently get between 45 and 50 mpg. So far I have put a little over 60,000 miles on it, and I haven't paid any more on maintenance than I would a normal car; actually, I've paid less, because you only change the oil every 10,000 miles. I consider it a very worthwhile purchase.

And to the people saying "get a moped" - if you're willing to drive a moped on the New Jersey turnpike, the money you save on gas will probably be offset by the money you have to spend to custom-fit your moped seat for your enormous balls.

You had to know all those silly 'Suburban' type trucks were going bite you Yanks on the ass one day...

"if you're willing to drive a moped on the New Jersey turnpike, the money you save on gas will probably be offset by the money you have to spend to custom-fit your moped seat for your enormous balls". Haha that's a funny mental image...

i carpool 50 some miles and it sucks. gas is too expensive to go as often as i would like. worth it though because it is awesome

have you thought of a car pool for training. Or perhaps you can work a deal out with the owner, until things get back to normal.

pilot201-I would love to Carpool but my buddy from my hometown actually works up in the city so he is already there afterwork..The other 2 guys that train work nights and are stuck training at a local mcdojo during the day.
