Two Weight UFC champs, Aldo, Pereira and Nickal

Chimaev talked about being a four weight world champ when he arrived. We have not yet seen him in a title fight. Vera talked about being a three weight champ and we never saw him in a title fight in the UFC. Cejudo talking about a 3rd title but is yet to compete at 45.

Pitbull tried and failed to become a 3 weight champ in Bellator and Nguyen tried and failed in ONE. Parnasse about to go for it in KSW.
Aldo could have gone for it in the UFC but they fucked him out of his LW title fight and then fucked him out of the last BW title fight he had earned at the end there.

Pereira did it in 11.
Randy did it in 16 if you count his interim title and 17 if you donā€™t.
Cejudo and Penn did it in 17 fights.

Makhachev might go for a 2nd title but he has already had like 26 fights.

Very interested in what happens with Nickal this year. Lets see how fast he tries to climb the ranks here at MW.

Apparently Glover talked about Pereira possibly going after the HW title. You get Jones and Stipe out of the way so they stop slowing down and ruining the HW divisions ability to actually function and things could get interesting. Let them fight and retire and then you are looking at Aspinall with the official title and it is possible we could be looking at a Aspinall vs Pereira title fight at some point in the next year or so.

Would you want to see Pereira go after the HW title if that division can finally get a official champ who is active and defending the title? I would. If Aspinall defends once and Pereira defends once Iā€™d be all for an Aspinall Pereira superfight towards the end of 2024.

ā€œIf he were to move up, he would change his diet and training routine outside the camp to gain mass,ā€ Teixeira told MMA Fighting. ā€œā€˜Poatanā€™ walks around 233 pounds and I think he can go to 246, but not [over that], you know? I think 242 would be good.ā€

Pereira has proven to be one of the largest and most lethal strikers in all of mixed martial arts (MMA) since he put his kickboxing career on the back burner in 2020. Teixeira has been helping him throughout the whole journey and Middleweight had always been a consistent chore despite Pereira not closing the door on a return at some point.

ā€œItā€™s all a process,ā€ Teixeira said. ā€œā€˜Poatanā€™ is a disciplined professional, and thatā€™s why he managed to make 185 in the first place. Itā€™s not easy for anyone to do what he did. Few people can manage that.

ā€œIā€™m not saying few people can fight in the UFC, much less win the belt, but to do what he did, losing that much weight, not many can do,ā€ he continued. ā€œIn the UFC, Iā€™d say only 10 percent of the fighters can do that weight cut the way he did. It was very brutal, but ā€˜Poatanā€™ has the discipline for it.ā€

GSP won his 2nd weight class title in 28 fights.
Nunes did it in 21.
DC did it in 23.
Jones did it in 29.
Conor did it in 24.
Already said Randy did it in 16 or 17 if you donā€™t count interim titles and Cejudo and Penn did it in 17.

So Pereira could become a triple champ in half as many fights as the average UFC double champ had.

I have the odds at Pereira being a 4-1 dog in an attempt to become the first three weight champ but its still very possible. He is still only 36 and has only been in the UFC two years.

Took him 7 years in Glory to become a two weight champ and he had already fought pro for two years prior to that.

Poatanā€™ walks around 233 pounds

When people wonder whatā€™s up with the HW division - thatā€™s what. Heā€™s pretty much Arlovskiā€™s size naturally and cuts as low as 185.

Parnasse just lost a UD in KSW to the WW champ and he failed in his attempt to become the first triple champ in big promotion history.

Pitbull tried to do it in Bellator last summer and failed as well.

Nguyen tried in ONE and also failed.

Parnasse first won FW and then LW and went for WW.
Pitbull and Nguyen first won FW as well and then LW but they cut to BW and failed.

Nguyen came the closest to doing it because he just lost a SD to Bibiano in the BW fight.

If Jones/Stipe/Ngannou/UFC didnā€™t slow down and fuck up the HW title fight flow we could maybe be seeing Pereira go for triple champ in the UFC vs Aspinall.

Dana said Aspinall can defend the interim title if he wants while the Jones Stipe fight continues to fuck up the official title picture.

Iā€™d be all for Pereira going for triple champ status vs Aspinall at 300.
