I like Spong in this fight because as we've seen, Jones' kryptonite is standup striking (so he takes the elite strikers down) and Spong would deliver standup brutality upon Jones that he's never experienced before. Also Spong won't be bullied by Jones' size advantage, because according to my "wiki research" (since I don't watch kickboxing as I only knew about Spong after WSOF) Spong fought bigger guys than Jones at kickboxing (including Alistair Overeem, which he lost via UD). Plus, Spong works with Rashad Evans and Overeem, that's huge stuff, and of course he'll get used to wrestling and improved his TDs and TDDs when that time comes and Jones' "flashy ****" won't work with Spong. Spong via KO.
Anyway that's what I think but what do you guys think?

I liked Spong's performance today, and am looking forward to seeing him fight again. However, I think it is a bit early to give him serious ufc title consideration. It's his first fight, he fought a seemingly one dimensional fighter, and he seemed reluctant to go to the ground. Perhaps in future fights he will prove himself to be a great mma fighter. That being said, I am a fan of tyrone spong and have no doubts he would demolish jones in a k1 rules fight.

I knew this thread would be up when I came to the ug today.
Spong looked amazing but he fought a nobody. Imagine how the guy he fought tonight would have looked against Jon Jones. It would have looked just as impressive if not more so. I want to see Spong against a more well rounded fighter and see how he does. Then we will be able to judge better how well he will do against big name fighters in mma.

I get your point but overtime Spong's wrestling would be honed and Rashad would totally push him for that because he knows Spong's a potential UFC champ.
And ALL FIGHTS START ON FEET right? Jones' striking is nothing like Anderson's even if he wants to believe that, I mean he looked laughable mimicking Anderson during the Rashad fight, the only reason his previous opponents were hesitant to go for the KO on him is his size and Spong won't like those guys, Spong would lit him up all night long when they fight.
Spong is a long way away from dealing with a grappler like Jones, doubt he ever gets there. Should be matched up with fights that will be mostly standing for now
