Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson suffered a “medical emergency” on his flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Monday, but was reportedly treated and released after paramedics boarded his plane to assist.
“Mike had some kind of medical emergency on the plane and paramedics boarded,” an eyewitness told In Touch. “Before the paramedics arrived the flight issued an announcement asking for a doctor — the message even came on everyone’s screens.“
Tyson, who turns 58 at the end of June, is scheduled to fight 27 year-old Jake Paul on Sat., July 20, 2024 inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, a professionally sanctioned boxing match that will stream live on Netflix.
“He was in first class, but we were an exit row,” the eyewitness continued. “They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter. [The flight attendant] said something like, ‘He’s a really important passenger so we wanna make sure he’s okay.’ I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words ‘Mike Tyson’ and she nodded her head yes.”
No question today’s incident will support detractors already slamming the July 20 spectacle as a reckless cash grab at Tyson’s expense. The former champ has competed twice since retiring in 2005, a pair of exhibition bouts against Corey Sanders (2006) and Roy Jones Jr. (2020).
“Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,” a representative for Tyson told The Post. “He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”
Now Jake Paul is ready
Id love to see strickland legally destroy the disgusting jake paul.
“Now feeling 100 percent,” Tyson wrote on Twitter. “Even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul.”
Tyson is scheduled to face 27 year-old celebrity boxer Jake Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which streams live on Netflix. There were concerns about the erosion of “Iron” long before his ulcer issues but Tyson insists he can solve “The Problem Child.”
We’ll find out in less than two months. If not, embattled super lightweight boxer Ryan Garcia is prepared to step in.
There will be a lot of finger pointing within the athletic commissions for letting this happen
