Tyson said it best when he was on TUF. Knocking someone out in the 1st round doesn't prove anything other than beating the other guy to the punch. It really doesn't prove you are necessary a better fighter.

What GSP did, dominate and control Hardy for 5 straight rounds and not losing a minute of the fight, now that takes skill.
