UFC 161 is turning into UFC 149 Part 2

Once again the UFC is returning to Western Canada, and once again the quality of the card is nowhere near what was originally advertised. At UFC 149 we originally had such big name fighters as: Jose Aldo, Michael Bisping, Shogun Rua and Big Nog. While 3/4 of these men were out through injury, no adequate replacements were found and the event left many fans in attendance furious.  
 
10.5 months later and an event just 2 provinces away is facing the same critical issues. Renan Barao, Eddie Wineland, Shogun Rua, and little Nog are all fighters that were expected to appear at UFC 161, but now none of them are. Once again the UFC has failed to find adequate replacements and many fans are once again displeased.
 
The Shogun Rua bait and switch
 
At UFC 149 Shogun was expected to face Thiago Silva. After Silva got hurt, Shogun was removed from the card and instead headlined UFC on Fox 4 vs Brandon Vera.
At UFC 161 Shogun was expected to face Little Nog. After Little Nog got hurt, Shogun was removed from the card and is now signed to headline UFC on Fox Sports 1: 1 vs Chael Sonnen.
Shogun has many Canadian fans and many likely purchases tickets to watch him fight live. This is the 2nd time the UFC has failed to find a short notice replacement to fight him, and once again have moved him to headline a free card on FOX.
 
Now Frontrowbrian, who I wouldn't argue has suspect credibility, has argued that the UFC deemed UFC 161 to be a lost cause and instead decided to move him to the inaugural Fox Sports 1 card.

Chael was allowed into Canada. UFC decided UFC 161 was a lost cause and reallocated a resource to the Boston card

UFC made the decision that it was smarter to put a valuable commodity like Chael on the Boston card instead of Winnipeg. Business. Not VISA

Read this... YOU DO NOT NEED A VISA OR WORK PERMIT to fight in Canada.. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-nopermit.asp …. Just a Passport which Chael DOES HAVE!!
 
Why are adequate replacements not being found for these events? Is it because the events are sold out and the UFC feels 'we have their money, oh well'. Fans are unable to get their money back and are now stuck with a card that they did not pay for. 
 Many Western Canadian fans are rightfully upset by this situation and are left wondering, in the words of Gilbert Yvel, "Why I is always getting fucked, man?"

I got burned at 149 but was going to take a chance and go to Winnipeg for 161 as it looked a good card to start with. But I held back for fear of a repeat. So glad I did now. Phone Post 3.0

This...You can't even come into Canada if you've had a DUI. There are a few guys in the UFC that can't come up here. I know Uncle Creepy is one.

In another thread - someone talked about a law in Vegas, where buyers can demand a refund if the main event is cancelled. That's why 151 was cancelled.

Twice main and co-main fights have completely changed in Canada... that's some crazy odds.

You have to apply for some sort of pardon or something. I'm sure it usually takes a few weeks minimum.

I won't ever buy a ticket again until the day before or day of the event. If it happens to sell out and I have to pay a little extra for the ticket then I make the call at the time whether to go or not. We've seen this too many times.


i agree if it is a local show, but what if you go out of town for an event?
