Tickets To Saturday's 20th Anniversary UFC Event Drawing Huge Demand
Published November 15, 2013
Saturday night's UFC 167 PPV in Las Vegas headlined by Georges St-Pierre-Johny Hendricks is being billed as the promotion's 20th anniversary show, and ticket search engine SeatGeek has determined this to be the "most in-demand UFC event since at least 2009," according to Elias Cepeda ...
I'm interested in seeing how this fight does on PPV. With GSP and Chael on the card there is no reason why this shouldn't do at least 800k buys but buyrates have been so dissapointing lately that it's tough to guess.
I've seen a lot more advertising for this one than any other I can remember recently. Granted I'm in Canada but this feels just a little bit bigger than the last few gsp fights.
I think this one will come close to the 1 million mark for ppv's.

if The UFC hadnt lost half it's television audience by moving around so much 167 and 168 would have been so much bigger than they already are.

I agree. I also believe that 166 would have pulled way bigger numbers than it did.

Yeah, Ticket sales for 166 were fantastic. The show sold out in like half hour. The ppv's were just not right.

MMALOGIC, this is off topic but I'm interested in your take on the Askren situation because I haven't seen you post much about it in the dedicated threads. Putting your dislike for Bellator aside since Askren has no ties to the organization anymore, do you think he should get a contract? Do you think that Dana's answer at the scrum was some sort of negotiation posturing?
I believe it. I have heard it being talked about on Sports Radio and a lot of reporters mentioning they will be there. This proves that the sport is craving stars, not the promoting organization.

He doesn't hate Bellator. He is paid to carry a message to these boards. Just doing his job.

My dad is buying this card. Which is interesting bc he doesn't really follow MMA too much outside of watching me fight. He's a big boxing fan and the only UFC he's ever bought until now was Couture/Toney.
And unfortunately there's not a single article on the front page of ESPN.com about UFC 167. Not only does nobody watch Fox Sports 1 but I think that ESPN is even less likely to give MMA any coverage now that Fox has established they are trying to compete with ESPN. The less ESPN covers the sport, the less mainstream it is.

I think you're right. It's likely posturing to not overpay for askren and to take a dig at bellator. I believe Joe Silva will make askren an offer... whether askren will like the offer is another question.
