I’d say he absolutely quit.

I’m usually the guy defending fighters because I have a lot of respect for them. I don’t generally say they “quit”. In this case, it was clear that’s what happened. He didn’t get hit with a big shot, he wasn’t gassed. He felt a dude on top smashing him and instead of trying to find a way to survive, he just gave up.

Soon as Neil established mount that’s my thought that he quit. Didn’t go for head/arm control rather turned to his stomach already flattened out before a strike was thrown. Missed the fight prior.

Ok…maybe there’s some truth to this. He got full guard and Magny isn’t known as a passer or brutal gnper.

Earlier I was thinking maybe he got injured somehow but after the fight was stopped, he wasn’t writhing in pain. Shit happens. He will either come back from this or decide he’s done….

As a guy that’s had over a hundred grappling matches, 4 mma fights, and trained combat sports for 35 years he absolutely quit. I’ve seen it a million times. He’s never been pushed that hard and it scared him. He needs a new gym and that may not fix it if he’s just not a gritty guy.

It’s one thing to hunt for the guillotine when u let the other guy position up from their backs but pretty bad decision to go for it on a TD like that from Magny. Didn’t even have it tight and still gave up the TD for it.

Don’t we have a thread somewhere about pulling guillotines like that, and how it’s a bad idea 99% of the time?

Also when they talk about the TAM guillotine, how many have they actually pulled off in comp? Faber had a lot of subs late career but weren’t they mostly rncs? Mendes went for some poor ones vs Connor. Benevidez? Mallot had some nice ones but against not so great guys.
