“Usman signed a bout agreement,” Abdelaziz told MMAjunkie. “We signed a contract. One hundred percent, Woodley is fighting Usman. Las Vegas. March 2.”
However, according to White, the only part of that statement not entirely accurate is champion Tyron Woodley’s involvement.
“That fight is happening or Usman vs. someone for the title,” White told MMAjunkie via text message.
White previously revealed an attempt to book Woodley vs. Colby Covington at the since-canceled UFC 233 event in January, admitting frustration that he couldn’t get the champ to make a commitment and hinting the organization could go in a different direction.
“So, you know what happens?” White said earlier this month. “The world moves on without you, boys.”
If they were smart, they would put the Colby fight together. Neither of these two bit busters has a shot at beating Woodley, but at least there would be way more hype for the Colby matchup. NOBODY gives a fuck about watching Usman vs Woodley.
When I think of Woodley I think of a guy who isn't that active but if you look at his schedule in the UFC he fought:
2013 - three times.
2014 - three times.
2015 - one time.
2016 - two times.
2017 - two times.
2018 - one time.
Now he is certainly slowed down since his initial break into the UFC,
The issue here should be Woodley fighting the next guy in line. That should be Covington. Don't have an interim belt if you are going to strip or not use the interim belt to match vs the champ.
Woodley should be fighting Covington.
Any other fight for Woodley or Covington shoud not happen. Useman should fight the next contender down the list to prep for the winner of Woodley/Covington.
That means Useman should fight Funky and that lines up the winner of the title holder to defend.
The UFC has to clean up their own matching making and belt issues in this division.

Woolley did have a hand injury I believe but beside that, why isn’t he wanting to fight? Does he not want Usman? Does he want to wait for Colby?

Woodley had surgery in October. As of late December hadn’t even been cleared to fight. But still…

Agreed…seems like UFC really wants it to be Usman though. Not sure if that’s legit or if they’re using him to pressure Colby. Either way, schedule a f’n fight UFC
