UFC Marketing DJ

ShoreBreaker -

Bling him out like Floyd throw some super cars at him

Super cars?  Not a chance. Did you see them embedded show where he is swimming in a $300 kiddy pool in his backyard with his kids?  Lol at the ten time defending champ swimming in a $300 above ground kiddy pool from Walmart. It was so lame to see that shit.

I am all for the fighter marketing themselves but Dana need to buy that kid a decent house and put in a real swimming pool.

Something about the ten time reigning defending champ and possibly P4P greatest swimming around in that lame ass puddle in his backyard. It was just sad to see.

DanWilliamson - Whatcha think, is Cejudo right?

Ehh…  I dunno about that. I really like and respect Cejudo, but he has less personality than DJ. At least DJ has a lot of the gamers invested in him. Then again…Cejudo habla español, UFC está desesperado por un campeón latino y los latinos aprecian pequeños luchadores mucho más que gringos…

I think for most fans it’s simply likability.  To me DJ is simply not very likeable. His personally is just weird.  He just comes off as a prick for some reason.

Even though Anderson doesn’t speak English he was still humble and likeable. GSP of course is extremely humble and likeable.

I can’t put my finger on it with Mighty Mouse, he just comes off as a jerk. It’s just the way he talks. He oozes with arrogance.

It is hard to describe, but I just don’t like the guy. I was talking to a few friends of mine and they feel the same way. One owns a MMA gym in my town and the other two are casual fans and they all feel the same way about the kid.

I think the prob is you and you're friends....dj is s cool cat.

Yeah I completely agree. He’s just not very good socially. He’s bland and awkward.

He sort of has a robotic nature and robotic fighting style. People want to watch people fight, not robots. He’s just not emotionally compelling or relatable to anyone.

Bland and awkward is a better way to put it. He’s not a prick he’s just socially awkward like you said. He seems nice enough and all just strange. Hard to describe.

Yeah he seems like a good dude. He just walks to the beat of his own drum. I respect it and him, but it’s just not what people want to see.

There really isn't anything left to market the guy, he brings his own Twitch following, most people know who he is and decide if they want to watch or not. Dude isn't a stranger to the casuals.

"His own twitch following"

Thats like saying "he brings his own instagram following"

Everyone brings their own social media following. Everyone. So DJ has 120k twitch followers. OK. Even friking Thiago Santos has 30k followers

Also, social media shoutouts on official PPV broadcasts are often promotional deals. Twitch aint paying the UFC to promote Twitch.

UFC endlessly pushed the talking point that mouse would be the undisputed best in imagination-land where speed is retained but power isn’t

The fighter has a responsibility to meet the promoter halfway when it comes to promotion. Every interview I bothered to watch with DJ, he answered with the most generic responses imaginable and looked bored and put out while doing it. Whenever he’s in the spotlight, he acts he’d rather be anywhere else at the moment.

The UFC could put 100% of their marketing dollars into the 125lb division and people won't give a shit.

I mean a tiny bit more cash wouldnt hurt. Make the TJ fight happen. Not make another rematch no one wants to see. Bring back Horiguchi and promote it as a US vs Japan fight in Hawaii, in the anniversay of Pearl Harbor.

horiguchi gets to start the fight before the bell rings. keeping the tradition going.

I dont really like DJ either although not sure why.

Silva was actually pretty cocky but I like him.

The problem is that whenever a fighter gets attached to the label of not being marketed right ,it’s stays with them forever in the future. Regardless of wether it’s true or not in the future.

I think he came off a lot better in the promos for his last few fights. He does have a weird way of speaking, very fast and with little emotion. He’s just a geek.

I still think he won though, that was a BS decision.
