UFC matchmaking is horrible

I don't get how fighters who are 5-0 to 7-0 (UFC record) only get pitted against up and comers. Then there's fighters with 3-4 fight losing streaks that get to constantly fight top 5-10 fighters and lose.

Kamal, ponzinibbio, and Valentina recently had fights that where against fighters coming off of one win or they didn't even have a UFC record.

Then you have Michael Johnson & Melendez who are constantly put against top compition regardless of there losses.

How do these fights make sense? What happened to building fighters up or rebuilding them up?

Note: Shelby did great with WEC & i enjoyed those fights as much as the UFC fights. He doesn't seem to be the same matchmaker as before

Sometimes, they want one guy to win, and one guy to lose.

Other times, they want them both to lose

For instance, they wanted Valentina to win, so they gave her a can.

Then you have a guy like Melendez,  they eventually want him gone, so they are ok if he loses. But, he's good enough to possibly beat some contenders they don't want near the title, so they put him in there against Stephens, a guy who is a borderline contender that they don't want to give a title shot. So They kind of want both guys to lose.

UFC has been trying to set fighters up with wins since UFC 2.

It’s the business.

Her opponent wasn't a can and will likely be top 15 at 125lb but she wasn't ready for Valentina, that is for sure.

UFC definitely has their gatekeepers.  And after they have served their purpose they are sent to the glue factory.
