Agreed

ChimpFL -

Damn they paid dude 12 + 12 on the main card. Dana and the UFC are pitiful in what they pay majority of the fighters.

I"ll never know why people get upset that someone is actually making good money. Good for him. Maybe if others fought more instead of whining they would get paid as well. What is a shame is someone like connor getting what he gets for the shit that he does. Never defended a belt, last win was years ago. throws dollys thru bus windows. get mad at that shit.

No ppv point for the main event?

Sad to see that Max a Champion with 19 fights was on a major win streak going up in weight and made less than a fighter fighting his 6th fight in the UFC. UFC is so jacked up.

You worry about your own damn business and don’t worry with winners. SMDH

They are making 2x as much from each PPV sale. They are making 4x+ more in broadcasting rights from ESPN in NA alone. Sponsorship/Advertising money can only be increasing from years past as the company continues to grow its audience more and more mainstream.

Meanwhile, new fighters are still required to sign 10k/10k deals. Even though the sport is more competitive than it's ever been requiring even the lowest tier fighters to have to train and prepare like it's a full time job and then some.

It's a god damn joke. It was reported the UFC fighters only received 13% of the overall revenue BEFORE they signed the ESPN deal....which means if that was true it's probably going to be  closer to 5-8% today.

Funny how Don King got villanized for taking all the fighters money, yet the UFC & Dana constantly get praised for building the sport as if they were the ones in the cage each week bashing their brains to mush.

At this point though I don't even blame the top brass. If fighters are not going to take it upon themselves to demand more equity as a group, especially in a day & age where it's so fucking easy to come together and communicate effectively and safely without fear of reprocussions, than they deserve to miss out on all the money that they currently are not making.

So many people bitching about fighter pay but what other orgs pay anywhere near them and have been able to stay around? Fighter pay has come a long ways from where it was and truth is even if UFC doubled the purses, fans would still bitch.

One FC and PFL are paying decent so fighters have options. When their contract comes up, they should test the market.

You’re correct in that other orgs like Bellator, ONE are improving their purses, but I think the main point of contention with the UFC paying a lot of these guy peanuts is the fact that the UFC is clearly in a position to pay them more.

If you listen to Dana since the ESPN deal, they sure sound like they’re doing gangbusters. Unfortunately the fighters don’t seem to be benefiting from that from a financial standpoint though.

Please explain with examples and figures of how fighter pay has not increased along with the growth and revenue of the UFC as an organisation.

If you can’t do that then your statement means dick

There’s a guy on the main fucking card here making 12/12, what else needs to be said? If business is so great no fighter should be fighting for peanuts like that (on the main card of a ppv no less). That sit well with you?

Typical piss weak argument singling out the extreme when the average and extreme on the positive has increased drastically. Also look at size of roster and increase in sheer number of fighters getting their chance in the UFC and improved pay they would not be getting elsewhere.

Youre another negative cunt anti UFC hipster. Nothing to see here

Was Adesanya rich before fighting? He had a good kickboxing career right? And a well-to-do family?

All organisations are like this. Timing, your ability to negotiate your contract, tenure with the company all factors in.

I earn more than more experienced engineers at my company and vice versa.

I swear the UG has fucking zero knowledge of how businesses or markets operate and continually fail to realise that the UFC is a fucking business that needs to make money

The size of the roster is irrelevant if they are not putting on more cards/year. The fact that they get paid more than they would from another org is also completely irrelevant. If the NBA didn't have the NBA PA and CBA and the team owners got together and decided they were only going to give the players 10% of the pot instead of the 50% they eventually negotiated for, your dumbass argument of "oh hurr durr, it's still more than they would be able to make anywhere else" wouldn't change but clearly they deserved more.

They put on 22 cards in 2010 vs. 37 cards in 2018.

Your bs is equivalent to saying - China's living standards have not improved with their economic growth because there are still poor people there...

The only thing you said that makes any sense at all is that it is up to the fighters to take it on themselves however it should be in trying to ascend the UFC and hierachy OF LIFE instead of reverting to unionising and campaigning for arbitrary pay increases.

Maybe I’m wrong, but as independent contractors they should be able to deduct everything you listed plus other things like mileage to and from training from their taxes. Tax rate on $350k is 35% for a single filer. I’d guess he keeps $225k-$250k, if not a little more.
