UFC Payscale a Joke?

They are if they choose to take the fight. Just like If I agree to work for 25 dollars an hour, and the guy next to me makes 40. + bonuses.
How much do you think is fair? How bout a 25% pay hike across the board? Hell, make it 50%. Do you think Dana or the promoters are going to take that hit? No. You and I will be paying 59.99 for the ppv instead of 39.99. Which might equal less buys. Then guess who gets a pay cut. Dana? The other promoters? Nope. The fighters.
So how bout we let the fighters decide if the money being offered is enough to take the fight?

I think it's none of your business what someone else gets paid. They're obviously getting paid the best they could be getting otherwise they'll go where they're paid more. Zuffa isn't a charity organization. Their sole purpose is to make a profit. They do that by providing entertainment for you and I and making sure their revenues exceed their costs. Get a clue man.

"De La Hoya's purse was a guaranteed $8 million; with his share of the "Pay-Per-View" revenues, he reportedly earned around $20 million combined."

Maybe when Dana White gets in the octagon to fight he'll make $20 million, too.

Hakirra has paid exactly the right amount of truth.

I'm amazed by the speed you all jump to defend the promoters.

No one will advocate for the fighters?

I would argue that the fighters are my employees. I pay $39.99 to them and they fight. Together we all ($39.99 at a time) pay them over $40,000,000 per event. Zuffa collects the money for us and passes it on to the fighters after taking a 99% cut of the profits.

As long as I'm paying to watch these guy fight I have every right to talk about what they make.

I'm not saying Zuffa shouldn't make money from this. I only saying that the fighter deserve WAY more than a 1.7% cut.

Sillyme, so if the organization happens to lose money on a promotion should the fighters pay the promoter to make up for the loss?

ttt

"No one will advocate for the fighters?"

we're advocating reality

Maybe they could make it a non profit organization. Just so it's fair to everyone.

"Sillyme, so if the organization happens to lose money on a promotion should the fighters pay the promoter to make up for the loss? "

The money is there, that is not the question. The question is fair distribution. Or not even fair... just respectable.

ufc fighters should get paid more but UNTIL they stop signing deals to get title shots,it will never happen..

fighters unions will never happen...

the only way they can get paid more is if different orgs had the top guys. But the ufc has the monopoly on talent adn they can do what they want.

silly you, its fair because the fighter signed the contract

"If the fighters don't want to fight for what is being offered they are free to look for other alternatives."

And what might those be?

Anyway I said my piece. Thanks for reading and responding.

I don't think it will take long for other promoters to rise up and start promoting fights outside of the UFC. And as the fighter become the draw they will get the pay they deserve. That will be a good day... as long as people watch out for the Don Kings of the world... and Zuffas for that matter.

Gene Tunney made just under $1,000,000 to fight a rematch against Jack Dempsey in 1927. Inflation-adjusted, that's roughly $20 million.

There wasn't income tax back then either.

you guys are a joke. the old mantra here used to be support the sport, support fighters etc... some dude brings up the fact that fighters only receive 1.7% of the revenue and you jump down his throat.

no ufc= no mma

I wish I had a job where everytime I did my job I got handed 7 grand. And that's near the low side of the pay scale.

:(

"I wish I had a job where everytime I did my job I got handed 7 grand. And that's near the low side of the pay scale. "

Not if yoru job takes three months to do

"Mayorga has to pay the promoter 30%, plus 10-15% to his manager..."

pay the promoter?
