Ultimate Fighting or MMA?

not that i like agreeing with dana white, but "ultimate fighting" is easier
to understand than "mma"

that's why i was rooting for "sport fighting" when the debate was going
on

ttt

Dana didn't coin the term "ultimate fighting" for mma. All the fans did. Everybody I know calls it ultimate fighting.

That's true.

I even find myself calling it ultimate fighting from time to time. If I talk about MMA to some of my friends and acquaintences who know nothing about it, the first thing they'll always say is "what's MMA?". They always know what "Ultimate Fighting" is though. Good branding I guess.

I understand the concept behind the term MMA but boxing, wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai, kick boxing are not martial arts.

Certain forms of karate & kung fu were truely actual "martial arts" as people developed them when they were controled by another country such as the with the people of Okinawa where they had to develop fight forms & fight weapons disguised as something else.

So...what is termed MMA should not be called MMA. Fighters do not train in karate or kung fu....well im sure a very very small percentage do...which of course is a waste of time, but thats another subject.
