Valentina ruled flyweight from 2018 until she faced Talia Santos. She was still on top but questions began to emerge. She then went on to face Alexa Grasso. A fight she should have dominated.
In the 4th round, championship rounds. A place Alexa lacked knowledge of. She had been there only once before versus Vivi Araujo. It was Valentinaās time to shine and she didnāt. She was face cranked and she submitted. She was in awe. She couldnāt believe she had lost, but she did.
In the rematch Shevchenko faught to a draw versus the champion. She eventually went on to win in the trilogy but that score still isnāt settled. Manon Fiorot is new competition for Shevchenko. A year younger a bit taller but lacking in reach. Manon will be the bigger woman come UFC 315. Sheās very strong and fights well. She can play a good game of striking or just come in for the KO. In her first two fights she dominated. In her last five she won decisions. Sheās 7-0 in the UFC and sheās ready to win the title. Itās Valentinaās job to stop her.
Iām expecting a striking war. I would not be surprised if it goes five rounds. Valentina has taken on bigger women like Amanda Nunes. The question is can she handle it at UFC 315. On the feet Manon brings great speed and tons of power in her hands. Most feel Valentina is the more well versed striker but until fight night that is up in the air.
I donāt see this fight going on the ground. If it does it will be interesting. Most expect a striking fight but this is mixed martial arts.
