Valor Fighting Kicks Off! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Founded by Rick Bassman and Eddy Millis, Valor Fighting is an exciting new fight organization that has already scheduled 7 casino shows and 12 fight dates over the next year. Billing itself as “The Next Generation of Mixed Martial Arts,” the booked casinos already include such top-rated resorts as Cache Creek in Northern California, Atlantis in Reno, Nevada, and Northern Light in Anacortes, Washington. “Valor’s new and inventive concept will pit a stable of Valor fighters against local opponents in each show,” says co-founder Bassman. “So with an average of 10 fights on each card, we’ll feature 10 Valor house fighters against 10 local fighters. We think this will really energize the local area and give us strong connection to each surrounding community.” Valor Fighting has already signed such well know MMA fighters such as Kit Cope, Justin McCully, Vernon “Tiger” White, Amir Rhanavardi, Benji Radach, Dennis Hallman, Shannon “The Cannon” Ritch, Brian Warren and “Maverick” Harvey and anticipates adding to the Valor stable over the years. “We’re looking for exciting yet dependable fighters who fit into the Valor image and who will represent MMA in a positive way. When we find those people we plan to make them part of the Valor team.” “We have a contractual relationship with K-1,” Bassman continues, “to provide fighters for their major Japan MMA shows. So Valor fighters and opponents will have a built-in career upgrade path. We consider Valor to be a family and so we want to support the fighters and help them grow just as the Valor fighters themselves helps the organization to expand. It’s personally gratifying to me when I see someone achieve their dreams.” Bassman has extensive experience in live action promotions as the founder of the pro wrestling arm of Valor, Ultimate Pro Wrestling. UPW has served as a feeder show into the WWE for many years, having placed a record 23 athletes with Vince McMahon’s industry leading promotion. “We see ourselves working with K-1 in the same way UPW worked with the WWE,” says Valor co-promoter Eddy Millis, the founder of the world famous Shark Tank. “The same well-oiled organization that has produced numerous UPW pro wrestling shows will be behind the production of the Valor MMA fighting shows. We plan to work with the Athletic Commission of each state we’re in to build up positive and enduring relationships. We want people to know that Valor Fighting is here to stay. For years, people have wondered what would happen if a top pro wrestling organization started a legitimate MMA promotion – now people will find out.” For more information on Valor Fighting visit www.valorfighting.com. Scheduling that many events is not impressive. Staying around for that many, however, is impressive.
How many shows have not made it to 7 shows much less in a year? It is much easier to name the ones that are still around and there are barely enough to count on one hand.
