$2m for a house for guys making as much money as they are is not a big deal.
You could buy a $2m home with a 10% down payment and even assumimg a high mortgage rate of 5% you are looking at a monthly payment somewhere around $10k. Thats 120k a year but of course you can deduct the interest from your taxes so its really lower. Wand makes more than that for 1 fight, let alone all his other business ventures.
Wanderlei's Aston Martin is basically a mobile advertisement for his gym since it's covered in wand graphics. I'm sure that's a write off.
He also shops at Walmart regularly here in Vegas. He's a penny pincher, don't get it twisted!
Tyson, like MC Hammer had huge houses, loads of cars, ridiculously large entourages, and, as mentioned, people were on the payroll for the stupidest reasons.
Wand is not that guy imo. Even if he was, buying a 2M house and an Aston Martin is not proof of that.
mojodmonky - fwiw Andersons recent house purchase was written about by Yahoo Sports. He bought a place in Palos Verdes. $2MM definitely doesnt get a "mansion" in PV.
exactly what i was thinking
Buying an Aston is never pissing away money.
ADAMantium - Sources also say that instead of pre-packaged meats, he buys from the meat counter! The meat counter!
Also, the spending does not stop there. Apparently, Wandy, while in line to pay, added 2-3 impulse items to his cart such as Big Red gum and a Snickers bar.
More to come as this story develops....
Case closed, he is out of control!
A 2 million dollar home and an Aston Martin hardly seem beyond his pay grade when you factor in how he makes his money. Sponsorships,Endorsements,Under the table Zuffa $
he could have numorous investments and all sorts of things.
Now an Aston Martin is definitely a butter buy but if he can
afford it and it makes him happy then who gives a fuck. Chael Sonnen wishes that he had half the money or half the global fame that wandy does. Wand can probably charge 5 figures on the seminar circuit. That man will never want for anything.
Wand has spoken of going back to college after he's retired for business schooling.
I doubt its as wild as you think.
A guy living in that area having the money he does with a family isnt gonna get a 250K home.
I grew up in a super affluent area. Tons of kids got mercedes, lexus and bmws as soon as they turned 17.
Yet a lot of the dads stopped being able to afford all the toys when the economy suffered.
You cant assume you will always have the same cash flow. Old school, depression era "hoarding" is a valuable mindset sometimes.
Sean The Saint - LOL at Chael Sonnen. Wanderlei lives about 4 blocks from me in a $400,000 house. I have been there many times. His Aston Martin was about $120,000 3 years ago when he got it. It is a tax write off because it advertises his business... His gym pulls in a very good amount of money, not to mention both he AND his gym are sponsored entities by a dozen companies.
Chael is just jealous because he had to become a CRIMINAL to make money in real estate and politics. Wanderlei has been making big money since he first walked into the PRIDE ring. Wanderlei owns multiple businesses and doesn't screw honest people out of their money for his own gain, unlike Sonnen. Truth is, Wanderlei makes enough to buy a new house every time he fights, Chael wishes he could....
Quoted for troof!
lol @ chael, wand is a legend and doing just fine financially, chael is an idiot
MightMakesRight -Damn! 4 car garage for less than 50k? 40 sq/ ft? Detached home for less than 50k?mcq -Hessian -I'm in for some cheap ass RE too.MightMakesRight - For 2 million you could buy a couple dozen houses in Vegaslink sounds appealing

I didnt realize the RE market was really that bad in Vegas.
Anyone from there that can comment? (Or maybe PM me to not hijack the thread)
Have all the jobs left the area? Those prices look ridiculously low.
people forget the Brazilian economy is doing really well. If he took a fraction of his pride money and invested that in Brazil he could very well be making millions just on investments.
Sean The Saint -WheresBobbySouthworth - From what I gathered of Sonnen's real estate fraud, it was beneficial to his clients too and a common activity. I don't think it's all that evil. People act like he did something terrible.
Key word here is Fraud, asshole. Anytime fraud is involved, someone is getting screwed somewhere.
fraud/frôd/Noun
1. Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.
2. A person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.
You've got to be an idiot if you think UFC fighters claim all the money they get in their "undisclosed locker room bonuses" in their taxes. In that regard, they're all crooks, and since you feel strongly enough to call someone an asshole over "not thinking fraud is something terrible" maybe you shouldn't watch mma, because theyre all terrible people and screwing everyone over. asshole.
You've got to be an idiot if you think UFC fighters claim all the money they get in their "undisclosed locker room bonuses" in their taxes.
You've got to be an idiot if you think the UFC isn't issuing 1099s for every penny of those "undisclosed locker room bonuses". Just because the bonuses are undisclosed to the public doesn't mean they're under the table tax-wise.
It's a business expense, you can be certain that UFC files all the appropriate tax-related paperwork. No fighter is going to be able to bullshit the IRS on this.

^^^^ Lets not forget his Shit Roll advert, this alone paid for the Aston!!

its common for celebrities to do ads in foreign markets that theyd never consider in their home markets.
You ever see Arnie's ads in Japan? They're hilarious, and he's done several dozen

Pre-interent and youtube this was the most common thing in Hollywood - especially for the Japanese market. Keep your integrity at home while selling out overseas where no one sees it!
I remember celebs panicking in the late 90s/early 2000s and threatening to sue to try to stop their overseas ads being uploaded to the net for everyone to see.
Seems funny now in an era where its almost expected and the odd ones are people who refuse endorsements.
