He will. And he will surpass his résumé. The problem is Khabib never challenged himself. Islam seems open and capable. That’s why I have a hard time putting khabib. High in the “GOAT” list. From my perspective, I would rather be a guy with a loss or two, but actually challenged himself than a guy who is undefeated, but really didn’t have too many impressive names under his belt.
Well you gotta do you. Khabib and Islam are in very different circumstances though. Khabib is rich af, the father thing, and he doesn’t need to fight. Islam probably will accomplish more in the sport but everybody behind the scenes including Islam an their coach knows he was never as good. My criteria for GOAT is different than most. I’m not as concerned with/fully focused on resume, just who I think the flat out best p4p fighter is/was.
I did agree Jones was more well rounded, but so are plenty of fighters. Khabib was just so good at what he did, he ran everyone over anyway… even when they knew what his gameplan was going to be. Not to mention his striking is underrated, his chin is granite, he has amazing cardio and his fight IQ is off the charts.
