Was Zuffa testing to water this last month?

Through a six week stretch we saw seven Zuffa promoted events.

UFC 130 Rampage/Hamill
The Ultimate fighter finaly
UFC 131 JDS/Carwin
UFC Live Kongo/Barry
UFC132 Cruz/Faber
Strikeforce Overeem/Werdum
Strikefore Challengers Fodor/Terry

I am starting to believe that this was a calculated effort to test the market to see if there is more money in many events or fewer blockbuster events.

As a fan I have enjoyed the past six weeks of near non-stop MMA. I am the type of fan though that doesn't care how much the main event fighters wiegh or if they are fighting for a title. I just like to see good fights and don't mind seeing some that don't live up to expectations along the way.

Would you like to see weekly events on PPV/Spike/Versus/HDnet/Showtime to pick and choose what events intrest you? Or would you rather see a monthly stacked PPV with a few Fight Night/Challangers cards a year to build younger fighters names?

Agree with everything you said, and there are more then enough fighters to have decent main events every week and a big name/title fight at least once a month Phone Post

of those 7 events there was only 1 title bout. paying for showtime every month and $50 per ppv and 1 fight for a belt? that's rough.

Watching great fights has nothing to do with belts. The UFC champions fight to win. Not to entertain. Id rather have a card full of young, up and coming HUNGRY fighters looking to prove something then a card with the champions trying to play it safe. Phone Post

Yep they took a pipe to Edgars back and Maynard's knee, ripped Cain's shoulder out of socket, and paid off Malki Kawa to fuck up Hashad/Jones in a fight that would get over near 1 mil PPV buys.

I like lots of fights. It would be better if there were more free/cheaper ones, but it is what it is.

It's all about cost. I have no problem shelling out $50 once a month or even twice if they're both stacked cards but more than that I start looking for free streams.

But if it's free I will watch weekly and don't even care who's fighting as long as their good. I'd love to see Zuffa buy a develomental league like Bellator.

Maybe I am just tired but I have no idea what point it is you are trying to make!?!?

i agree with addiction. as long as they are not super diluted cards the more the better

More a response to shoman than to you.

Oh...even though I don't agree with shoman that there needs to be a title fight on a card. I still don't see how pointing out title fights that have not happened yet or may not happen at all has much do do with the point he made.

It means that they were scheduled but when your 145, 155, and 205, and HW champ are all hurt you can't put a title fight on every card.

I'm an mma whore, I'll gladly take as much of it as I can get!

there should be an event on TV every week plus a PPV every month. the monthly PPV should be (on paper) more stacked with "bigger name" fights, show the WHOLE card, and always have a title fight.

TopGrinder -  I really enjoyed an event a week. Would be good if there were 3 ufc events a month and 1-2 Sf events. Then im happy. I will not pay for more than one PPV a month tho

That sounds about right to me.

In these times I do believe if they are serious about considering the NFL as their competitors they are going to have to eventually get away from the PPV model all together if they want to grow that much. There is just to much free or very cheap media out there now to think PPV is going to be a viable option in the long run.
