Weight for Boxing Gloves

Just want to get a consensus here as to what is the average weight of the boxing gloves being used today.

I am trying to figure out if its best to buy 12oz, 14oz or 16oz gloves for sparring. I know the lighter they are the worst for my partner or for myself in that matter. Is it better to train with heavy gloves to develop hands speed and muscle awareness.

I just got a pair of Cleto Reyes 16 oz. gloves and they're awesome.

For sparring you should use 16 oz gloves for safety.

16 oz gloves to spar is pretty much a standard.

I use 16 oz to spar and 10 oz or less for the pads and
bags.
