Werdum can't end the fight, Alistair can....

That's the only reason I need to want to watch Overeem vs Fedor instead of the Werdum crap match.

You really don't think Werdum is capable of submitting Fedor?

no

LOL!

This "Overeem is the man to defeat Fedor" group is baffling.

Overeem KOed 9 times in his career (6 in MMA, 3 in K-1).

End of story.

Neither of them has a chance at the Fedor

I theory...sure. Still, looking at his record, it's not exactly like he's a submission machine. Plus, look at who Fedor has faced and make note that none of them have submitted him to date. The only time he was ever even threatened by a proper submission was againt Hunt when he pretty much just let it happen.

Capable, yes. Odds of doing so over 10%? No.

Wow you're right. He's lost before so he can't win in the future.

(rewatches Fedor's fights with Nogueira)

No.

I just want to see Fedor fight....He's got a few legitimate challenges out there and I'd like to see him face them.

Neither of them have more than a small chance but Overeems chance while small is a great bit larger than Werdums.

Let me correct this for you. He's lost in the past by knock out to light heavyweights and not beaten anyone of note in MMA ever!

What makes him Fedor's biggest threat again? Oh, a win over Badr Hari that has already been avenged. Next.

Overeem isn't THE MAN to deafeat Fedor.

But he certainly has a better chance of doing it than Fabricio. We've seen Fedor get worked on the feet more than once, where Alistair has his best chance. But Fedor's never been in any serious trouble on the ground, even with the likes of Nog, which would be Wedrum's best chance of winning if he actually had one to begin with.

Alistair(the juiced up roid horse/monkey that he may very well be) presents more danger for Fedor, hence this is the matchup most people want to see. Pretty easy to understand, no?

What it comes down to is that landing a fight ending strike is a lot more likely than catching a guy who hasn't even really been threatened in 33 fights with a submission.

Both are unlikely, but Fedor's been hit more times than he's been caught in any kind of bad position.

Personally I give Overeem a 20% chance of winning (likely a cut) while I give Wedum about 5%.

So his capabilities and the tools he could use to beat Fedor are irrelevant? Thanks for this

TS is an idiot for starting this thread.

Monsters Ball - What people forget about Overeem is that when he gets tested he folds. He can beat up lesser opponents all day and look like a monster doing it with his big muscles. But it's his heart that always held him back when the going got tough.
Absolutely...however he is tough early in a fight. If he could start like Arlovski did, there's always that chance of a cut. Fedor started slowly against Arlovski and Rogers, and cuts/broken hands have been his only real weaknesses. Overeem does a decent job blocking with his elbows when fresh (to potentially cause a broken hand), and his knees can definitely cause cuts.

With Werdum, he certainly doesn't fold early, but he really just isn't much of an offensive fighter. He hangs around and doesn't get slaughtered, but it's not like he's been finishing people late in fights either.

Of the options for fighting Fedor, I'd still like to see Barnett in there (yes, yes, I know) but Alistair would be #2. I'd rather see a rematch with Rogers or Arlovski than Werdum.

They've proven to be irrelevant any time in the past when he faced top competition, so the answer is: YES!

You had the option of reading or fucking yourself.

Alistair has ZERO chance of beating Fedor. I don't care how much horsemeat he's been eating. Fedor will gas him our and then KO his ass. Rogers will end up putting up a better fight against Fedor......

 "(rewatches Fedor's fights with Nogueira)

No."

They don't have the same style. I think it's likely Nog would have had more trouble with Aleksander and Overeem than Werdum did, and I think it's likely Werdum would have had less trouble with Herring, Yokoi, Henderson, etc than Nog did. This despite the fact that Nog outclassed Werdum when they fought.
