what worries me is i think we will see the most boring version of gray maynard that wont take any risk. who will BLANKET the fuck out of edgar every chance he gets.

imo Edgar can win if he can duplicate the strategy from the Penn fights. This involved winning the striking battle by staying on the outside, moving in and out, and circling away.
The problem for him is that Maynard is the worst match-up possible for him.
Gray is going to use his size and wrestling advantages to become champion.
There is great value in this fight, and I am surprised because it seems few are taking advantage of it. '
Best bet on the card imo
Edgar needs to avoid the takedown while staying on the outside and making Maynard pay on the feet. If he can unsettle Gray with footwork and punching technique, then he will be able to outpoint him on the feet and maybe even score a takedown in a desperate wrestling encounter. With this opportunity, Edgar will be able to show his ground skills and either ride out a decision or score a sub on a tired out (long shot) Maynard.
