I really am just interested in opinions on why this fight cant happen at 140lbs... Not excuses!!!!
Are we really suppose to believe the ufc cant make this fight happen at 140lbs?
Are we really suppose to believe cyborg who never fought at 135lbs will be herself there? and that she will stay at 135lbs??
I just don't get why not make this a superfight!!! that's what it is anyway.
I just cant wrap my head around how RR gets to pick and choose her opponents it seems. 140lbs is the perfect weight for this fight, for the girls sake, and for the fans sake.
So, un lighten me, cause I do not get it.
Only reason I see is RR doesn't want to fight her at 140lbs.
Doesn't seem like a legit reason imo.
and don't tell me cause there is no 140 division
that doesn't matter and the title don't matter either
or if it does, explain how?
I think Ronda is afraid. Even 145 lbs where Ronda used to fight at. When she's steamrolling everyone else I think its ridiculous she doesnt want to challenge herself.
Both are champions.
Both are paid by Zuffa.
Both are crushing their competition.
This fight really should happen at 140 and both ladies retain their title.
Cyborg wants it.
for sure
cyborg aint no 135 pounder so putting her there to have RR beat her is pretty much taking advantage of cyborg IMO
meeting in the middle is the best option, I don't see why not either
Both fighters dont want the fight imo. Cyborg doesnt want to cut down to 135 and Ronda doesnt want to fight at 140 or 145. They are both afraid to lose. There is two ways to make this fight happen and neither one are doing anything about it to make it happen.

Cyborg wants it.
"Of course I would want to fight her at a lighter division where she’d be weaker because I feel like that would be more of an advantage to me" -- Ronda Rousey.
There you go.

Ronda doesn't believe in her skills. She needs a weakened Cyborg. It'll be the only fight in her career ever where she doesn't have a strength advantage. At 135 lbs, she believes Cyborg will be weakened and dehydratated, so, it'll be an easy win for her.

ok, if you think cyborg is afraid to lose don't you think she has a reason besides fear?
you know, the fact shes never fought at 135?
RR doesn't have that excuse, all she has to do is keep 5lbs.. that's the difference.
cyborg is already losing a addition 5lbs to meet at 140?
why should she have to go the extra 5?
its not fear for cyborg of RR, maybe fear of not being herself which is understanable
Hypothetical to illustrate the dead horse you keep thrashing.
Ronda sold 900k ppvs on a card with no real other draw.
Cyborg adds maybe a 50-100k draw as an invicta fight pass 145'r, and that's only through effective marketing for your proposed super fight.
The alternative? Put cyborg on display in the UFC to build her draw. Currently the only division for her is 135. She can quickly change the 50k draw on top of Ronda to a 500k draw on top of Ronda if properly marketed, and that leads to the biggest UFC event of all time.
The 140 or 145 fight you keep asking for would depend on current exposure and draw, and frankly cyborg brings nothing to the table in that regard. It's only "super" when both sides are a big draw.
That can change at 135. That could change with suitable 145 talent being available and known, but that doesn't seem to exist.
The sport side says yes Cyborg catch-weight at 140. The business side says they can make the same money against ANY 135'r as your super fight so there's no point.
The sport side said Mayweather and Paq should have fought years ago. The business side waited and cashed in huge.
Ronda knows 135 is her best weight, and cyborg knows she won't have a huge strength advantage at 135. It's not up to Ronda to accommodate cyborg, regardless of what other champions fought up in weight. Cyborg fight or not, Ronda will still be in the UFC making big money and being a real mainstream star. Without the Rousey fight, cyborg remains unknown to the general public making a fraction of the money Ronda does. Cyborg has far more to gain here than Ronda. All that's in it for Ronda is to make the small % that is the hardcore fans happy while risking the mystique she has as this unstoppable wrecking machine.
I think Ronda is being a bit stubborn, but only because she feels cyborg doesn't deserve it because of her failed ped test
The reason is that outside of this forum very few people care about pre-UFC WMMA or Cyborg. Many serious fans who buy a lot of PPVs still dont care about WMMA or even the lower men's weight classes.
I think you'd be surprised about how few people care about Cyborg vs RR outside of the UG. And even on the UG it seems like a small yet incredibly vocal group care about it immensely but the majority of people would like to watch but don't really care if it never happens.
It does not benefit the health of women's mma to have the division potentially embarrassed only to have the champ unable to fight for the promotion as there is no division for her to fight in.
If the 145 division was in the ufc I'd be more in agreement with you.
That being said no other ufc champ in that scenario aside from Penn has ever done that when pressured to.
Going full tard would be letting your ego cost you and the UFC millions and huge exposure. They're doing what they should. I'm sorry that you can't comprehend it. Not everyone is intended to be a decision maker. There's no shame in that.
The reason is there is no reason whatsoever for Ronda or the UFC to make any concessions at all for Cyborg. There is no reason whatsoever for them to do this as a catchweight fight rather than as another 135 title defense for Ronda.
"Meh that's a pathetic excuse. I have yet to meet a champion that didn't fight a person who failed a PED test."
And Ronda has no problem either. Her only point is why should the fight happen at a higher weight just so a juicer doesn't have to lose some ill-gained muscle?
"In fact, Weidman made it clear that he would beat Vitor on PEDs or not. And he cashed that check."
Weidman also pissed and moaned for the two year build-up to the fight that Belfort wasn't being tested enough, that Belfort's absurdly low urine testosterone was a bit higher than his own freakishly low urine testosterone, etc.
For one catch weight fights as one of the dumbest things out there.
Secondly there is zero reason for RR to fight outside of 135lbs.
Especially to someone not even in the organization, an entire weight class above her, has pissed hot in the pass & frankly doesn't even warrant the fight in the first place.
Cyborg just uses RRs name to stay relevant. She has had 3-4 years to get to 135, sign to the 135 division and show she can fight at the weight.
She won't do it.
Seriously what is the point in a fight at 140? They fight, RR wins, then what? Cyborg gets that huge pay day & goes back to fighting cherry picked local fighters once a year fighting in minor league type organizations? Cyborg wins? She gets that huge pay day, goes back to fighting cherry picked local fighters once a year fighting in minor league type organizations?
Next. Move on. Its tiresome and pathetic now. People just want to see RR lose.
EddiePain420 - ronda fights at 135 because of people like cyborg , ronda isnt going to fight cyborg at any weight let alone anything over 135.
they will keep feeding ronda easy wins to give her this tyson effect cause ufc is desperate for a star.
they will never risk ronda being derailed.she is like the new female version of tito ortiz.
