In my opinion Gus has the best chance of taking the belt if he emulates Cruz against Jones. Constant movement, circling his back off the cage, and taking pot shots to rack up the score. Disengage from the clinch at all costs and use a combination of jabs and oblique kicks to keep out of Jones grasp. A similar fight to his one with Thiago Silva but with less direct engagement. Essentially stick and move if his cardio can keep up for 5 rounds. He possess and generous reach himself (pretty sure its 80") and though it is not as long as Jones' it gives him much more of an opportunity to sneak in shots then his fellow 205ers.
What say you UG?
I think he takes the belt from Jones.
People called me crazy when I said Chris would KO Anderson, and look what happened.
If Jones starts losing rounds, he will just get serious, clinch and ragdoll Gus and finish him on the ground. I hope he makes a statement like he did against Sonnen, no playing around, just domination from the get go.
edit: If I'm wrong, I will have some nice crow
he doesn't have the speed that Cruz has. Dom's style is based 100% on his absurd speed.

Cruz is used to all that movement and has the athleticism to pull it off. If Gus wants to pull a Clay Guida ( vs Maynard) and try to avoid the fight he shouldn't have signed on the dotted line.
Haulport -He's pretty agile at 205, hp. Watching the Shogun fight was a treat.

He could use that as an outline for s gameplan.
Cruz is able to pull that off by his speed and ability to change stances.
I think if Gus uses an Edgar style (apart from losing first round), but adds power to his shots, he could win
i dont think Cruz has ever went into a fight with working off his back and getting hellbowed as a gameplan?

I don't believe a one off freak injury should disqualify the potential effectiveness of this strategy utilized by someone with a larger frame. Gus is plenty agile and he showcased it in his Silva and Shogun fights.
I think that is his best chance at winning, he can't let Jones get a hold of him to take this fight to the ground.

Agreed, I think if Jones gains top position he'll wear Gus out too much and the damage will already be done if it makes the later rounds
