What is Reasonable Pay for Jones?

Who forced JJ to move up? Did Dana say move up to hw or you're out? He's under a contract (I presume), moves to hw hopin for something big, then bitches he's not making enough money. Maybe he should bring in BLM to help negotiate a better deal.

He should get exactly what he agreed to on the contract.  Not a penny more.

Contracts get renegotiated all the time. He should be paid exactly what he and the UFC feel is a fair value for the fight.

Hilarious, the same fuckers on here who constantly cry about the state of pay in the UFC are now telling Jones not to ask for more money. He's the fucking best to ever have done it and I could care less what sort of money is made of cheese nonsense you tell yourself that he isn't. This will be the biggest fight on HW history, it will do Lesnar type numbers so he and Francis should get paid an absolute fortune for it.

25 million per fight x 2 fights yr. This should be multiple time defending champ pay.

Ufc is most likely not giving him a good pay increase. Honestly Jones vs Francis is the biggest fight to make.  UFC is very cheap

This…He’s the highest ppv earner other than Conor. Numbers don’t lie

If he brings in an extra 300k buys, or 20m, because people want to see him win or lose, why should the UFC pocket all the extra money?

That's what ppl keep saying - 'the ufc pockets the extra money'. Like the cost of producing ufc events is totally negligible

Those costs will be incurred anyway. Whether Jones fights on a card or not.

Jones will be paid whatever he is asking. The Ngannou vs Jones fight is the biggest fight to make since Khabib vs GSP/Conor is off the table.

Let's ignore the legal aspects and just talk purses. How much would be a reasonable purse for JJ to get for moving up and fighting the HW champion?

25 million is fair for Jon Jones in the UFC.. Though he is worth more if he could promote his own ppv’s

This guy gets it.

Fuck Dana.

I hope Jon takes his cheap ass down with a union.

Precedent has been set in the past. DC said publicly that he was paid more to move up to HWT. The numbers weren’t made public, but DC said he got more $. If you look at DC’s disclosed earnings, he made 500K in all his fights plus PPV, except the second Jones fight that he got a million. We all know those numbers aren’t what he was actually paid, and DC said so himself on his podcast.

So if DC was paid more to move up and fight at HWT, Jon should be offered something similar…meaning the increase should be similar. Jon should be making more $ because he’s been in more title fights, has more wins etc and it’s common to get more $ as you keep winning.

If Jon’s asking for crazy money, and by crazy I mean something way out of the norm for a star like Jones taking a big fight in a different weight then they shouldn’t break the payscale for him. However, if the UFC is refusing to give him similar treatment to other stars, they should step up.

They need to pay whatever is necessary to make it happen. Both guys deserve to get paid as this is the biggest fight the UFC can currently book by a wide margin.

Keep in mind the UFC signed away all of their pay per view profits by signing a fixed revenue deal with ESPN, so they get the same money regardless of a show doing 200k buys or 2 million buys. I fully expect the UFC to be cheap as a result and the fans to get screwed. Sure hope it doesn’t happen though as I’d love to see this fight.

The problem for the UFC is if they keep caving in to fighter demands to get more than what they are contracted for, managers will do this every single match.  The contracts become pointless.

Ignoring the legal aspects, what would be a reasonable purse for JJ to move up and fight the Predator?

Jones should be the highest paid fighter in the history of the ufc.

It really depends on several things.

Was it his choice to move up to HW or did the UFC coerce and encourage him to do so?  And was his existing contract signed before or after the decision?  If Jones was content to stay at LHW but moved up at the urging of the company, then he should get more than what his contract stated.  I would think an increase in percentage points on the PPV would be fair.

Maybe.  You can also argue his issues dropped his value some.  He should be getting $10 million+ per fight as long as he doesn't lose.

$20 million. Winner takes all

…and throw in free eyes pokes as legal to sweeten the deal
