What is this sweep?

Okay so last night we were working specifics where the bottom (with the top in full guard)attempts to sweep or submit (focusing on the basic armlock) and the top is just defendiong and holding position.

I was on bottom, and the top had a really good defence - basically prying me open via grabing my belt/pants and pryig with the forarms/elbows and shifting to the side, but still on his knees.

I couldn't break the grip for the life of me - a combination of his good technique, tucked elbows and me being nooby i suppose.

Anyways, so i sat up (still with him in my full guard) and he didnt adjust so his hands were still in the "break full guard" position i described above. instead of crappily tryingt o pull him down (very hard due to his posture, etc.) I basically wrapped my arms around his arms and torso.

Once I did that and it was locked down i realized that he felt pretty secured and kind of screwed, so I just held that, and dropped one leg and hipped him right over into mount.

I kow there MUST be a name for this sweep as it seemed that if you could get to that straddling full guard with arms around their arms and torso position that they are going to get swept 99% of the time.

Anyone know what its called?

yeah close to that, except instead of grabing the one arm and using such an angle, I wrapped my arms around the torso and both his arms, completely locking up his upper body, then basically posted off the one leg and just threw his torso like a bear hug kind of.

it only worked becasue he left his arms and hands on my belt/pants. does that make sense?

thanks for the comment btw

Sounds like a hip bump to me to.

Yep sometimes also called a situp sweep. Normally nobody will just always hold onto you belly while you wrap them up. As you reach up they will start to check your biceps and push you back down. Once you get good at the sweep check this out.

it used to be one of my higher percentage triangle setups. Also Ryan's detail on the sweep itself is awesome as usual.

Thanks all and that video is great I'll work towards it for sure! Phone Post
