What kinda $$ do coaches expect from local gyms?

im working on saving the $$ up to open my own gym

i've pretty much got the $$ figured out as far as equipment/lease/insurance etc..

but what would you say the average or pretty good BJJ black/wrestling/muay thai coach would be looking for?

i know some bjj privates can go for $100/hr, so id expect to pay at least that per hr for class or maybe a little less with a weekly fee.

TTT and good luck ... How are you in the red after the thread on the OG called " I think we have a new scumbag Steve " that's like epic as hell Phone Post

It probably depends on the area.

Here coatches don't get paid much for classes, but it gives them the chance to work privates at the school and build a clientele. Then they have to give a cut to the school or pay rent there, so the school ends up making money from the coatches in the end.

Good luck this season trent...

HS teacher / wrestling coach the past 15 years. Coached like 80 state qualifiers, 40 state placers, 17 state finalists, 9 state champions, 8 All Americans, 2 National Champions and 1 very supportive wife...

Started no gi grappling in mid 90's and have done so off and on for a long time. Only competed in one grappling tournament since I am philosophically opposed to $80 entry fees for 2-3 matches (Utilizing the seldom seem standing guillotine suplex submission). Just recently honored with purple belt by Master Mike Lee and Seth Petruzelli. I like to recreationally trane UFC and help teach wrestling classes at the Jungle / roll with young up and comers when I have free time... Phone Post

  awesome

 im not in your area

but what kinda $$ would you AT LEAST expect(weekly) to teach wrestling on say...Tues/Thurs from 6-7pm

IT'S BEST if you pay your trainers "Anderson Silva Money"

Look at how good Overeem treated his trainers in Holland and you will see why he is STILL a top fighter after 21 years in the game.

To be honest wresting is a poor mans sport (maybe $20-$30 an Hour depending on number of students).

Most guys get involved in coaching to give back to kids / the sport. With regard to instructing adult classes at a gym if I were a gym owner I would look to exchange free training / gym dues for x-amount of instruction / classes.

If you find a young guy, maybe right out of wrestling in college, to bring in maybe put the deal on a trial period to make sure he is competent to conduct a class by himself. Make him aware if enrollment numbers increase in his classes so will pay (this helps keep instructors motivated to get after it and "put out a good product").
Ask for a resume / references and check up on the coach, as with everything there are plenty of "fake black belts", lol

Hope this helps Phone Post

I know of a really big, nice, gym in south Florida that was paying $30-$40 a class for some top tier guys. Phone Post
