ever hear of BJ Penn?
When I lived on Oahu, I trained with Burton Richardson. He's the best, most generous coach I've ever trained with. His website is www.jkdunlimited.com and teaches comprehensive grappling, standup and weapons games.
I also did some seminars over at Egan Inoue's Grappling Unlimited and always had a good time and good instruction.
I had a friend who trained at and spoke well of one Relson Gracie's satellite schools.
All this was around '99 or so.
Be advised there's long standing beef between the Inoues and Relson, and if you want to avoid politics and such, there's a bit there...
The Onzuka brothers have a great website listing the training opps on the island. Don't have the link off the top of my head, but Google is your friend.
