You are mostly correct. This sport rode the wave of the ed hardy, affliction tribal tattoo, nu metal fad running through the USA in the mid 2000's which seemed to peak around 2009-2010 and now that fashion/ is past it's peak and on it's way to decline and UFC is that image and therefore will be riding the wave down with it.
The good news is that in the process the UFC has picked up real solid fans so the sport will continue to do well but it will not be the largest most popular sport on earth. It will remain on the fringe of mainstream albeit past its peak.
