White unsure of Guillard's future in UFC

If Dana is going to play like that get rid of Guida too. They are in the same boat. Both exciting just don't get the W all the time. Phone Post

Also how is Leonard Garcia not in danger of being cut Phone Post

UFC really needs to start building guys back up after losses.  I don't get why losing to top guys is a bad thing or a means to get cut.  Let's say

Shogun, previous LHW champ his losses were to Jones Hendo and Gustaf, what if he never fought vera, then he'd be losing to 3 top  guys, and how does that justify a means to get cut?  Sure he's not going to get higher but  he's still easy top 10, probably top 5.  not saying Shogun sucks or guillard was champ material, but guillard is a good strong guy with some what of a name that brings it.  He's like a stephan bonnar, chris leben,  josh kos guy, meaning hes not going to be champ but hes a cool dude to have on the roster that will float around and bring exciting fights.

Lol and yet they keep Hardy around to lose 4 straight Phone Post

Why do people constantly say shit like this? You do know all fighters are judged differently right?

Hardy is a main draw for the UK market, thats the ONLY reason he is still around, if he was from Florida he would have been cut already.

Certain fighters get more chances based on

Being an exciting fighter
being a draw in a certain market
being a legend
Being a guy who has helped the UFC out in tight spots

Stop comparing fighters because no two fighters are the same.

Its why a guy like Zhang can lose 4 in a row and he wont be cut because he the big fighter they have in China and thats a market they are really trying to crack.

Can't believe they'd curbs exciting fighter like Guilard, this is probably a shot over the bow to let him know not to play safe Phone Post

He's an extremely exciting fighter when he employs an aggressive game plan.

However, when he talks I want to take my ears out back and Old Yellow them. Phone Post

I was Melvin's high school wrestling coach, worked with him for some early fights, and was his primary coach for his 2nd UFC fight with Rick Davis. If you watch that fight you will see Melvin in his best shape ever. I remember wishing he was fighting a bigger name fighter that night.I moved him in with my family,we trained every morning prior to taking him to my school teaching job w/ me as well as evenings, I monitored his every meal getting him from a stacked 185 down to 55 for the first time, and he was sleeping by ten o'clock every night.

We did something I am pretty sure he really has not done much of in quite a while...takedowns (drilling and live) and sessions concentrating on grappling. Whenever I speak to him he only mentions working to get back up from the ground. He has been doing this for so long he should be a force on the ground by now but instead he continues to struggle.I think he trains just to try to win the next fight instead of also trying to improve overall as a fighter.

I am a wrestler originally but have gotten pretty good on the ground w/ a nice blend of wrestling and submissions and we had a guy named Mitch Mcelroy who soon after received BJJ blackbelt,Rich Crunkilton UFC vet,and Jose Figueroa M-1 champ working with us. I think he falls into a trap that many fighters fall into-training what they are best at or what they like best.

He has come out fast and looked good in some fights but seems to get overconfident and drops hands Ali This costed him v Cerrone and Miller among others. If he would come out aggressive throwing straight punches and KEEP HIS HANDS UP his speed would be accentuated.

While he was in high school we would have college wrestlers come through and he would have success in takedowns against them b/c we worked so much on that. He would struggle top and bottom though. We concentrated on takedowns, escapes unless he could take them down directly to back. He probably missed more practices than he came to Fr and So year and quit team twice so I had to streamline his training Jr and Sr year.

I hope they keep him around as he has name recognition and his fights are usually entertaining.Whether people like him or not they will tune in to see him fight. With a few simple adjustments to his game he can have a decent chance against most fighters.

I agree with Dana. He needs to bring back that aggressive style. Phone Post

Oh shut the fuck up and quit whining
Hardy is not the UFC's UK draw, Bisping is and always will be. Also please let me know which of your categories Steve Cantwell fits into Phone Post

Considering what Marcus Davis said about Melvin last week? He can go back to the regionals for all I care anymore. He can cheat all he likes there, there's a reason why Varner said check him for greasing.

I missed that, what did he say about him? <img alt="Phone Post" border="0" src="/images/phone/apple.png" style="vertical-align:middle;" /></blockquote>

on TUF2 he gave him his tips on how he greased for the fights. I'll link you to the direct episode.

here it is,.. not matbattle.

Wow.... Phone Post

The top guys grease and all sorts of other lubricating shit, why wouldn't the bottom guys be doing it?

What you did there, I see it Phone Post

Did you guys miss the Camoes fight? Honestly was a shit fight where i saw him losing in. He needs to fight lesser opponents under mid-level

yeah cause all they look at is Losses right not marketability or anything like that

Just because he's a Brit doesn't mean he's marketable. He just turned down fighting in the UK where you think he's a marketable fight, sure as hell isn't here. Phone Post

There was Forrest in there though too, can't even compare those 2 situations, such a higher caliber of oponents, and his 2 wins in that stretch were brutal k o wins, plus his fight with hendo was fight of the year, which even Dana thought was a draw Phone Post

MdGeist -

They would be absolutely foolish to cut a guy like Guillard.

So many other dead-weight, no-name fighters in the LW division that should be cut before Melvin.

This Phone Post

Melvin would flourish in Bellator. Thing is guys will be scared to sign with them for fear of pissing off zuffa. Phone Post

Warrenpeace - 8-1 with Jackson's

Left Jackson's for blackzillions and goes 1-4.

Boom Phone Post

Are you fucking kidding Dana?

i'm pretty sure they won't cut him!
his fights are win or lose always exciting, but how can you be a mixed martial artist for so long and have zero groung game? Phone Post
