There have been plenty of articles circulating about Tom Hardy’s success in jiu jitsu competition. It’s awesome to have such an esteemed actor represent the sport and he seems to be very talented, but does anyone really want to see him in higher-level competition? Something similar to the celebrity boxing spectacle - Hardy vs a UFC fighter who is known for his striking? Hardy vs another celeb with a comparable skill level? I’m a fan of the actor and I think he is a good ambassador for jiu jitsu but I don’t know how much of an appetite there is to see him compete like that… What do y’all think?

I doubt if there’s much of a chance that we ever see Hardy in a world-class grappling event unless he’s invited to take part in an exhibition match of some sort ( I don’t follow sport BJJ at all so I’m not aware if they actually do exhibition matches ) & a 0% chance that we ever see him in a cage unless Hollywood greenlights WARRIOR 2.
As @LordSeano pointed out Hardy is merely a dedicated hobbyist who wants to burn up his competitive juices before he gets too old to effectively do so. He’s a very busy, in-demand actor so he can’t put nearly as much time into training as I’m sure he’s like to so I’m sure he realizes there are levels to the grappling game that he’s never going to reach. But I’m sure his other life successes balance things out for him.

People that support bjj are glad he is bringing new eyes and prob participants to the sport, lots of people talking about bjj that knew nothing about it before Tom Hardy. Good on him he’s not out bragging about breaking arms in jj yet so I’ma be happy for him and the sport til then.
