I’m uneducated yet you claimed BJ was “at least as good a grappler as Khabib” BJ fans are officially insane.
I think Khabib beats him the same way GSP did in the second fight TBH.
But what about prime 155 Edgar I think that is quite possibly the worst matchup for Khabib in LW history. That footwork, activity, scrambling ability, durability, endless gas tank.
Khabib would ragdoll Bantamweight Frankie Edgar and his american wrestling.
What is that gif?
The size difference would be tremendous, which is another credit to Edgar that he won the title on skill alone.
But Edgar was much faster and a much better striker. Very possible that his footwork would have kept him out of Khabib’s reach, allowing him to box him up for a UD. I mean, this is the guy that struggled with his takedowns on Iaquinta after all.
Struggled so much he beat AL 50-43 on the scorecards with two 10-8 rounds.
Frankie struggled with the 11 guys who beat his ass, some of them Bantamweights
Iaquinta is/was mid level at best. Bragging about lopsided scores is laughable . No other elite fighter is letting him survive the distance.
Who’s bragging? You brought him up.
and also Al was on a 5 fight tear when Khabib dominated him, won 8 of his 9 previous fights.
Funny how selective people are with this shit.
He’s better than most of Frankie or BJ’s wins that’s for damn sure.
I brought him up in the context that if someone is struggling to take him down (a pedestrian 6 of 15 ), they’re probably going to struggle even harder with Edgar, both stylistically and skillwise.
Prime Edgar was the perfect stylistic matchup for Khabib by all accounts. The only question is the size difference. Edgar bravely fought at his natural weight against bigger foes his entire career while many consider Khabib to be a weight bully.
He took Al down SIX times and won two 10-8 rounds.
Frankie lost 11 times Anyway, I don’t need to argue on behalf of Khabib against these inferior fighters when the most relevant people in the sport think he’s the overall GOAT.
Frankie got sent out in a body bag. Khabib runs the sport.
Smarts don’t it?
Yeah, it’s a ridiculous nuthugging take to compare a whole career to an abruptly ended one. But of course you would .
For a true comparison, compare Edgar at the same age that Khabib left.
Maybe 2-3 close losses? But up at his natural weight. It would have been like Khabib fighting at 185, where he would have had knockout losses instead of close decisions.
It’s interesting watching a back and forth be5ween someone who’s language clearly shows he’s educated in MMA, and a numb nuts who’s followed it for 3 years and made no effort to learn its finer details.
You just lost that one 50-43 Jack
This is the correct
BJJ guys are the most unlikeable mma fighters
Your emotional attachment to BJ is directly tied into your own youthfulness, lust for life, good times shared with other friends who had their lives ahead of them. You felt a part of a surging new subculture just hitting the mainstream, everything was electric, it was the time of your life. And that’s precisely why your judgment is clouded and you’re incapable of assessing the truth objectively.
BJ stinks. His era stunk. He fought unathletic white dorks, little T-Rex arm wrestlers, jiu jitsu guys with zero striking, etc. The whole shit is a sham, and a prime BJ would be absolutely mouthfucked by the entire modern crop of top 20 guys.
If somebody showed up on a UFC broadcast right now like “This guy is a small 155er, lazy as fuck, can’t really kick, is a turtle once he’s on his back, gasses in a round and a half, can’t threaten with ANY sub aside from an RNC, and is a complete mental case weirdo, who wants to fight him?”, there’s gonna be a line around the fuckin block
I had to vote you up because I’m a huge fan of Alvarez and he’s one the most humble human beings there is. Everything you said about his accomplishments is absolutely true but he’s not the greatest LW of all time but he’s def up there. He’s fought an absolute murders row.
People who do BJJ are flat out weirdos. The people I met in wrestling are much better people and much higher level competitors.
