who should have been toney's trainer?

i am thinking probably someone like lidel

Keep away from the takedown and throw that bomb.

And by the way ... Rampage would be a force if he trained there!

The one that didn't force him to train as that is what I think would of suited his fighting style best.

dont think it wouldve matter cuz the result wouldve still been the same

No one, he was just in it for the pay check & had no hope in hell of winning, so why waste money on a trainer?

Learning a damn sprawl from Chuck would have been good but in the time he had I dont think anyone could have really helped him.

Extreme Couture

Antonio McKee or Greg Jackson Phone Post

would it have mattered?

Nope, but maybe peeps at AKA or Jacksons/ w/ Rashad & Mike Van Arsedale?

With a year of real training in only wrestling and forget about his boxing because he won't lose that.  Maybe, just maybe then he could beat some guys...

Jackson's has several larger wrestlers to help him.  Rashad would have been a really good training partner, and Jackson;s teaching ability would have been helpful.

It wouldn't have made any difference. You cannot get the instincts and muscle memory needed to stop a great wrestler like Randy in a few months. As soon as Randy shot Toney still would have frozen in place with that dumb look on his face and gotten taken down.

The trainer wouldn't matter. Toney is just a loser who thinks boxing will win all fights. He learned an important and very embarassing lesson. Let's move on and get soembody else in there now. Toney will be dead broke and forgotten 5 years from now.

KEMPO 5.0 forever!!

Toney never listens to his trainers, whether it is a boxing trainer like Freddie Roach or a conditioning trainer like Billy Blanks.  There was no way he was going to trust any MMA trainer to recreate him as a fighter.

This is true, too.  Randy wouldn't be able to neutralize Toney's boxing despite having a dozen years of experience sparring and working out with boxing trainers.  In the same way Toney was never going to compete with Randy's wrestling...but ideally he would have made him work harder which could lead to openings.

even with all the training he had for a few months went out the window as soon as randy dove for his legs .. hell toney didnt even "react" to even sprawl in the first place at all .

defense and reactions to takedowns have to come naturally and instinctively..it cant be a "step 2" thought process

This thread is chanting "UFC!" at a PPV.

Strange times.
