The better question would be who isn't excited for his arrival? I'm super excited to see his debut. Roop is tough, though, and I don't think it will be as easy a fight as everyone is saying it will be for Hatsu.

It will be great to see a well rounded and deadly JMMA fighter make the crossover. So far they have not faired too well but many have been one dimensional, or had glaring holes in their games. Hioki is great all around. This will be interesting!!!

not exactly a gimme fight seeing as roop has the reach of an orangutan at that weight as well as pretty crisp technique.
that being said, hioki is pretty tall too and has proven he can negate the striking of his opponent, get the takedown and constrict like a straight-up JapAnaconda.

I'm not really excited at all. I've bought the hype for so many JMMA stars only to see them ultimately fail, it's just not worth it. Hioki is skilled, but in all honesty he had some trouble with Omigawa, and look how Omigawa's doing. I'm not one to buy into MMAth, I'm just saying if he hit a roadblock with Omigawa, I don't think he's going to take out Aldo, Florian, Brown, Griffin, or even Gamburyan or Garcia.
I hope he does well, but I'm expecting Roop to beat on him for three rounds.

hioki's jiu jitsu is too much for roop, he'll be able to take roop down and finish him with a slick triangle from mount.
