why i get excited for cards that look bad on paper

the majority of hardcore fans recognize great fighters before they go through the MMA hype machine. sure the upcoming lesnar vs. valasquez card is stacked and i'm pumped as hell for it, but it often turns out that cards that the noob-average fan will get on the UG and other sites saying its a horrible looking card that turn out to have the best fights. i think it is for the same reason that some of the regional orgs and "minor league" orgs often produce exciting fights: guys are fighting to be seen and build that all important fanbase that will lead to the UFC/strikefoce/insert big name here contract, or to get that all important push promotionally by the big org once there. they put it all on the line and don't "fight for points", which will appeal to everyone. you can appreciate a technical game and still love a great knockout or sub, but it doesn't always work the other way around for a lot of non hardcore fans.......

what say you UG?

oh yeah,

its my first post,

so,

FUCK THE UG

Sometimes card that don't look good on paper end up being much better than hyped up cards.  It all depends on how the fights go.  Could be a lot of KO's or subs tonight.

Every single card that looks bad on paper, and people on here get all butt hurt about them, turn out to be some of the best fights of the year.  Anyone who has failed to realize this yet is either a moran or they just don't watch all the PPV's.

I agree.. some of the best fights have come out of cards that most ppl say on here that they wouldn't buy it due to the lack of names.

guillard, lytle, mccorkle, hunt, mir, cro cop, lil nog, bader, ...... there is a huge chance for a knockout fest tonight
