on the food network show chopped. he competed on an episode titled sports stars. he was be called an mixed martial arts fighter.
dont get me wrong i love his acting and he prob has had a few boxing matches and maybe even hangs out with some legit fighters. but why advertise himself as one?
oh yea other contestants were tiki barber, natalie coughlin and danica patrick.
chuck actually beat tiki and it was so funny when he said he didnt know what kale was and had never cooked salmon!
saw him once coming out of a private workout room at the mgm during a big fight weekend. he had these huge shades on and people started gathering and some thought he was stallone. so the crowd gets really huge and buzzing, this was during the time he was on oz, but for everyone who recognized him for that here was 10 people who thought he was stallone and people are yelling rocky and classic stallone lines and he's eating it up. just loved the attention even though he had to realize that most didnt know who he was.
Well it would be tough for Chopped to announce him as a celebrity just because he was the former president of the NY Hells Angels. Plus he knocked out JCVD at a strip club, so there's that.
EVERYONE wants the image, but no one wants to sweat. They know that you get instant street cred when someone finds out you train or fight. Almost overnight, MMA became the sport of badasses and attracted wannabes in droves.
Chuck wants the image since he was always considered a badass. Within 1-2 years after MMA hit the mainstream, Chuck was no longer top of the heap badass, but there were 20 year old purple belts and MMA guys that would beat his ass.
So naturally he attaches himself to it. In a society that worships celebs, a pop figures word canbe taking as gospel. All he has to do is say it. Look at Seagal. The guy has never had a real sparring match or fight in his entire life, yet people consider him an expert at combat. He's an expert at creative dancing.
So Chuck wants some of the image. But he ain't sweating for it.
