I meant to ask this the weekend of Mayweather/Canelo.
1.I think superman punches are allowed but rarely thrown. Being that it's boxing, I understand why, but you would think you would at least see a superman punch more often than what we do see.(I've never seen a superman punch in boxing until I watched the above video.
7:07 mark in the above video.
2.I know spinning backfist are not allowed, but personally a spinning backfist is a punch, and in my opinion you should be allowed to throw any punch you can throw.
True, but... It would technically still be a legal strike in boxing. A feint works because it looks like you're about to get hit, it might not matter that a boxer knows kicks against are against the rules.
A foot coming at your balls is a foot coming at your balls.
My personal opinion is simply a superman punch looks goofy. Boxing is known as the "sweet science". A superman punch doesn't fit the mold or technically sound for boxing

In order for this technique to land, you have to make your opponent respect your kicks first, and once you have that, they are primed for a superman punch.
I've seen this question asked before and usually the person asking doesn't know that a Superman punch is set up with a kick feint, they think it's just a type of punch.

AKA people who have never done any kickboxing training.
I used to love when I'd go to training and most of the people I sparred with tried to land it on me but they didn't understand it was a feint rather than a leap into the air. So they would jump up in the air and try to come down with a punch and you could step back, time it, and rock them with a right hand when they landed.
I've even seen in high-level MMA competition where a guy throws it by jumping up into the air rather than coming straight forward with it. It's actually dangerous to use if you are flying up rather than straight forward.
Barely anyone throws superman punches in mma. GSP pulled it off better than anyone in the sport and he doesn't throw the superman right really at all anymore.
Yeah he uses the superman jab a lot but it gets there faster than the superman right.
Still very effective and can be more powerful than the average jab if thrown and landed correctly.
OregonChaelClosedDueToBandWagonCrash - Because your faking a kick?
OP just outed himself as a clueless noob.

Not necessarily, you don't need to faint with a kick. The initial lead in with a feint jab before pulling back and throwing again is enough. You can through a superman off a planted front foot, James Irvin threw it this way to good effect.

You mean like a double jab with a feint on the first rather than a full double jab?
