Anyone that becomes popular usually ends up getting alot of hate. 
My guess is that it's because he can come off as arrogant and machida wowed the Toronto crowd last time so our loyalty lies with him.

I know what u mean but there is something that u just can't put your finger on I don't like th guy much but also don't really have anything to point directly to. There's just something uncomfortable and a bit weird about him and I think a lot of people feel the same way!
I'm in Toronto, and whoever said the pulling for the underdog thing is pretty spot on. The fist case I've seen of it was booing the rock, cheering hogan (not mma, just an example) im sure Hominick woulda been fan favorite against Aldo even if he wasn't Canadian. That being said, the crowd respected, and gave him tge respect he deserved after beating Aldo. I'm sure tomorrow night when jones inevitably beats machida hell get his love. That, and I'm sure jealous drunk haters are just more audible
